Tent implosion effect ?

For a little over two months I'm running with a drs120.

1,20m x 1,20m x 1,80m

Its lovely and works almost as expected ...
were it not the size is only 1m x 1m x 1,8m when the canfan filter is running, it gets implosive tendencies haha
The fan is perfect for the tent, and from what I understood this is normal behaviour .... BUT .... its room/space/growth/potential grow area. ...
And not a tiny bit too I believe I should calc that 0,2 x 0,2 like something as 0,44m2

I placed 2 400w hps lights, and am able to maintain a desired climate.
But now ... near two weeks in the flower cycle, I see my ladies fattening up very very nice but, when I open the tent I see this huge space (relatively) between the walls and plants as the implosion effect fades.

Is there anyone out there that made something like a frame or something at the middle ? (forcing the walls to stay wide)
Or are there perhaps drawbacks to that ?
Or experience with similair issue?

i like the effect as it pushes the plants closer to the lights. but i built a PVC frame to go around the middle for he situation at one time.

I was planning on something like a frame too, did it had any positive effect ? or was the pvc material insufficient ? (not strong enough, conssidering warmth and elongated pressure)

So you use an intake fan?

If you want to ease the pull in of your tent look to get an intake fan that's around 10-20% less CFM than your exhaust fan.

This should give less negative pressure within the tent and still maintain enough negative to keep smells going through your filter.



Or you could build a frame.

I still have a smaller canfan, not sure about its power, but physcially its size is about 50% or 60% of the one in the tent (125l).
I'll give it a try and see how that works out I might have to dim the bigger canfan a bit, but it might just do it.

(I know the canfans shouldnt be dimmed (this one is 1 speed) but its doable as long as you dont dimm below startup power or youll burn the fan engine)

I'm guessing I'll still need a frame if I want to give the plants the max size of the tent.

You might need the frame but if your intake fan is MUCH lower in CFM just open up a few flaps as well. This will help too and you still won't get any smell leakage.

Then just work on a frame as your back up to give you the usage you area you want.

Thanks jondamon I still have the large flap available to open, but am affraid the smell will get bad,
I will give it a go tomorow, seeing as I'm early in flowering and the smell hasnt become that strong yet.
Sucks though, the fan and filter will need refitting in the tent, as it would be create a horrible flow as it is now. (right above it now)
Ah well, at least I have two options now, I try the smaller fan first perhaps (less obstrusive implementation) and and if not sufficient the flaps are an option too

I had material lined up for a nice scrog, but I kinda spent quality time with the ladies during veg, making sure they were nicely spread ^_^
(hind sight ... the scrog setup might have spared me the current issue -_- )



Would you still apply a scrog here ? (near two weeks into flowering)
Top of the plants are almost on one line, and still at 55cm from the lights which are @ max height (2x400w)

Honestly, they look like they where scroged already, so good job and no, I would'nt bother. It simply makes training them really simple.

What helped when I had a tent, was fixating a board in between the floor and roof poles, via hose clamps! I was able to attach a wall mount fan to the board as well!
