Alaska RIU'ers... How did you end up in Alaska?

I know we have a good number of Alaskan posters and Alaska has always fascinated me. It just seems so far off the beaten path that I'm just really curious to how you ended up there. Was it where you were born, marriage, a job, love of the outdoors? I've never been before but it is certainly a top location on my bucket list. If the question is too intrusive or too akin to Padawan's questions by all means don't answer. I'm just high and curious as hell. :eyesmoke:

Neither of you two mothafuckas live in Alaska.

See4, I already know that you live in Zimbabwe.

Silas, I think you live in a shoe somewhere.

you will have to wait for the likes of kron and (mentally challenged)-bus ... i hear that's the politically correct term these days, i certainly dont want to hurt anyones feelings.

2 of my good friends are from Zimbabwe!!!

They worked on our farm and then got their green cards :D

Oh and does it count that I lived in Alaska neo?

Yes, it counts. How did you end up there gigs?

My girl's family has a cabin up around Anchorage and I had never been there before so we decided to move there for about a year.

Don't get me wrong it's beautiful there but I didn't care for the weather lol.

Job brought me up here a long time ago & I had to stay for the outdoors.
The fishing is second to none, hunting is better than the entire lower 48.
It is simply addictive.

no doubt.I had some of a red salmon from the Copper River for dinner tonight.Tasty ,even if it was frozen from last season

FWIW,Miss Sunni dear:-P,most of the time it is actually much nicer(even warmer) then where my folks live in the Northeast of the US

Really? Are they in Maine or something? What about the mountains of snow you get during winter? I mean Alaska as a whole gets snow fall measured in feet as opposed to inches around here.
