When do you start your garden seeds?

just make sure your pillaging is legal and you have permesion....you wouldnt care for someone coming and pilaging your hard work. bad enough we have un cotrolable pillagers like insects and animals we dont need our fellow man doing it. Ask first..its the right thing to do.
i had all of my 2012 outdoor canabis plants (7 in total) pillaged. i wasnt too happy about it.
i realize it seems harmless since its such a large area and so many plants, and no one will notice a few tomatoes. but never the less its still stealing. im sure if you went up and asked the guy if you could give a few a try then chances are he wont mind. or heck ask him how much he will charge you to let you pick a few. chances are it wont be much at all and well worth knowing you have his permission

Bet if you give that guy $10 he'll let you have as many tomatoes as you can fit in a big basket... Especially once you tell him you live right behind the field. Good chance he may even allow you to pick them for free with your act of good will.

Or you can just steal them and hopefully he catches you and beats your ass. Don't know why I talked so nice to the lowest of people (a thief) in the first response. The more I think about it the more annoyed I am

because deep down you want to think he will realize what he is thinking is unjust and will do the right thing....sometimes people dont realize that even the smallest acts are still morally wrong. even though they may have no adverse consequences.

Depending if the person owns the land he wants to steal the food from could possibly have 100% legal rights to shoot anyone that trespasses and or steals. For that reason is why its not smart to steal from someone's land.

that sucks....again another prime example of pilagers we have no control overI started my seeds in January and transplanted mid-march. My lettuces in my salad tonight were from our garden. But my basil, thyme, cilantro and parsley have already been completely eaten by a family of birds - 15 plants in all.
this is why it is so important to be a good person. because unfortunatly wild animals dont know any better so we have to leave our faith to our fellow man and hope he has more honor that an flock of wild animals.

Well I got some radishes and some onion sets in this past week. When starting from seed, I almost always use Burpee, but I found a regional company with mostly heirloom genetics.
I tried poppies for the first time this year. I put the seeds out about 2 weeks ago and still no signs of germination. Poppy seeds just get scattered across the surface more or less, so I hope they didn't get washed away.

The best seed starting setup that I have is 1x 6 Pod AeroGarden and 1x 7 pod AeroGarden hands down over starting seeds in jiffy pucks and seedling soil and having to worry if they are over watered or under watered.

FYI, Burpee sells a lot of Monsanto genetics. While I also still use a few Burpee seeds, I make sure that none of it comes from this company or its subsidiaries. It is unconscionable how they have treated our farmers and how many times their companies have been caught lying to the American public.
While I know that one person cannot bring down this giant, I choose to voice my opinion loudly with my pocketbook. I would urge others to do so as well and support the small seed companies - esp those who have signed the safe seed pledge.

Im still at least a month away from being able to get out into the garden and work it up, but Im starting some tomatoes
today.
Growing up gardening was something I did with my dad all of the time, I really enjoy it and I often look back
at the fun we had doing it.
This year my dad doesn't really seem too interested in doing much of a garden for himself, so Im gonna plant extra
so him and my mom can still enjoy some fresh produce.
We buy some bedding plants at the greenhouse, but I prefer starting them from seed and taking care of them
until they can go outside.
Cant beat the fresh air and peace and quiet when your lost in your gardening world.

I only buy Monsanto seeds... Then i clone the shit out of them and distribute them to the neighborhood 
I don't care what genetic mutation they have, only that they are patenting food. That's a fucking stupid thing to be legal. Patent a plant... Ain't nobody got time fa that!

haha ive being doing this too!!! i breed lots of monsanto tomatoes a year ago and gave away the seeds for more hybrid monsantos. cant stop a tidal wave. i collect seed every year and give them to every one, stop this open pollination you bitch ass monsanto fucks! cant sue the world.I only buy Monsanto seeds... no thats dishonent, i just encourage breeding between the 2 and keeping/creating your own seed. i myself create enough seeds to take away at least 500$ worth if what would be normally bought product.

I never said lie about the seeds your trading to not be GMO. Some people want to trade Heirloom seeds for GMO seeds because they don't want to spend the money on buying seeds. I always let a person know what I have and what they come from.
ie. A Person buys a pack of heirloom Lemon Basil seeds and they want say seeds say of Purple Basil. The person with the Heirloom basil seeds could make a bunch of seeds and trade them to got the Purple basil seeds.
There's always going to be people who only buy 1 pack of seeds and make a few seed harvests so that they can trade them for other kind of seeds because they don't want to spend the money but others are willing to spend the money on 1 or w/e amount pack of seeds to trade for that 1 kind.
I my self have 5 different kinds of Basil seed packs and 4 of them are labeled heirloom. I am interested in making my own version of basil seeds.
