Another stupid question

so i bought a ipower light kit when i started out and it came with a batwing reflector, and i went out and bought a new hood for it now if i get a new ballast say like 2 400w, would i have to change the mougle base on the hoods to run a 400w or a 600w. or should i just get a whole new kit and kaboodal.

I started with the ipower 400 watt fimable i just made a cool tube for it dont really see a point in.putting 400 watts if a full hood...now my 1000 is in a radiant 6 with 400 cfm pulling through it

Ok well no moguls are rated for a heavy load my 400, watt mogul says 1500watt max so ur fine u just need the ballast's

Cool tube diy i just put mine back together...i know my shit man i do lots of thinkin...or spend about 60$ each for pre fabbed cool tubes on ebay be sure to get 6 inch tubes so you can run em all on one duct/fan system and that way if u upgrade to bigger lights(1k) u dont need to buy new tubes or hoods a 6 inch inline will keep.em cool 440 cfm and if u run multiple 1k on a duct the have a 6 inch at intake and exhaust

The answer is no. All you would need is a different ballast and bulb, hood will be universal. Depending on ballast/reflector pairing you might need an adapter for the reflector if you have a hydrofarm reflector connector and a sun system ballast or vice versa. The adapter can be had on ebay for around 8 dollars.

No new mogul needed,Okay let me rephrase. You never stated what the ipower wattage and rating is but assuming because you just bought a new hood,your max ratings on the ballast stay the same.For more clarification the mogul itself does have a rating,look at the sticker that is on it and it will tell you voltage and wattage ratings,these are the max,600w rated mogul can take 400w bulb just not 1000w.To address the last part of your question if you got a new 400w ballast run a 400w bulb not 600, you will not get the output from the ballast to fully power a 600w.

ha thankyou. im going out to get 2 400w ballast and bulbs for my 4x4. i started with a 600w so im guesisng it will run the 400w,
