Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

Do I have to bake my soil if i want to reuse it? or can I just leave it outside in the sun for like 2 weeks, add more sand, perlite, dolomite, and flush my soil with tea or something? I want to keep my soil full of goodies thats already structured in the soil from the past.

Osmocote is easier to find. Benefit of Polyon is that it releases its salts based on soil temps, not just moisture. I have trouble finding small jars of Osmocote with micros though. Polyon is sold thru suppliers to the commercial ag trade in 50 lb. bags. BWI in the states would be one such outfit but they will refer you to a local feed store, Walmart, nursery who they wholesale to.

Nutricote is one sold in stores, aka Dyamite sold at Home Depot.

The slow release should be all you need from start to finish. May have to tweak it once in a while. I get Ca from dolomite and my water source. Haven't used the Citrus FeED for cannabis but another grower is and doing fine with it.

Thanks. I'll try to track down a distributor. Any more details on the specific type, i know it's 18-4-9 but any ohter details. For instnace, it looks like they have different types, and variations such as ones that contain pre emergent coverage. I know we wouldn't want that but just don't want to sound like a fool chasing it down.

What is pre emergent coverage? Look, just find a NPK value you like and fork over the money.

Uncle Ben, I know you have mentioned that you use 18-4-9 and have said that 1-3-2 is a good NPK for flower. How can you have such great results with 2 NPK ratios that are so different?

as long as what the plant needs is there but not in excess it works

Actually, I don't use 1-3-2 anymore. But that is more out of simplicity than function. These days I'm really gun shy when it comes to low N foods, even for flowering. If you're gonna use it, I'd recommend you do so after the plant has gone thru its stretch phase and watch carefully for any premature leaf drop. The stretch phase is when the plant actually needs quite a bit of N because it's bulking up with a lot of leaves. But lo and behold the typical grower does quite the opposite, screws up the progress of his plants, by giving them a low N 'bloom' food which induces leaf necrosis. I've seen some bloom foods with no N, which is ridiculous.

In a nutshell, to me, a 'bloom' food is one that provides enough P and K support while maintaining leaves in a green and healthy condition until harvest. So........the easy to use, slow release 18-4-9 does the trick for me.

Comprehende? :)

yeah, they get hungry and die. Keeping the plant happy and healthy is the key.
Chucky,Chucky,Chucky...you don't grow...You don't know.

Flushing is the key to keeping them healthy and happy. My girls get a flush once a week with double the amount of water I usually feed. The next day they are dry as a bone and explode when you feed them.

This has not only made them happy but I stress less knowing their feet are not rotting/burning on the salts building up in your medium.

anyone wanting to do a quality grow should do the exact opposite of you.
google soil leaching and learn something instead of just spouting shit from your poo hole.

Perhaps you can persuade admin to pin a thread based on your wonderful gouging - purging drill. A title like Cannabis Bulimia Nervosa, Sir.Ganga style?

UB I posted a thread about this but I would really like your opinion , what do you think this problem is? Just affecting the top fan leaves that haven't fully developed. 10 days into flower. has got 3 feeds, 1 of grow at 1ml per litre and 2 of grow and bloom at a per litre ratio of 1.5 ml grow 1 ml grow .

For starts, you haven't told me what the NPK and micro values are. I don't do labels.

But, it looks healthy to me.

Pre - emergent as in controlling weeds. I know we don't want that, that's why I was asking, I just want to be able to call and ask driectly and not go through the awkward line of questioning from the wholesaler who has some of them but not the one I really want and is trying to sell me what he's got. Did that make any sense?? Maybe I should just stick to trying the oc+ and keep my eyes open for the other.

Huh? There are no pre-emergent herbicides in encapsulated fertilizers. I know pot is a weed, but let's not find another way to kill it.
