Flora I agree with what you say it's not economical or possible for everyone to do it the way you do.
i would love an induction setup but unless your gonna have it drop shipped to me or the op then I would say cfl's are it for now.
also look into the manufacturing steps of your setup doubt they are much safer and better.
not that I dislike anyone or their thoughts but come on not everyone wants to grow the same.

Then what light do you suggest genius?????????
Wow,that's pretty rude guy, everyone is trying to help you figure out a problem you presented a very vague question about.Every single answer you received was correct based on your question. You did not inform people of your preferences of where to shop or your budget. When someone suggested an answer you took issue with it and I hate to tell you there is a very limited amount of lights given your not wanting to use HID or go buy T5HO.After you eliminate those lights, you are pretty much left with what you already have.So on behalf of the OP thankyou to everyone who thought to lend a hand.Good Luck

I wouldn't say that cfls can produce some nice buds and can do so on a budget.

Using 430 watts of cfl in 1 fixture in a 2x2 area how hot does the bulbs get? I know you need some type of fan blowing on it or something. But if I'm going to run that much wattage why not just run a 400 hps or even a mh for that matter? You will be using the same wattage but getting more lumens per sq ft.

L.e.d. are expensive to start up with and still lack in results.

If I'm spendinga $1000 on 1 light I would expect it to out yeild my 600 watt that I paid $140 for. Even after 2 harvest running the light covering the bill I would still be under $1000 dollars with way more buds then if I was using a led.
Seriously, your understanding and info is way of date. 2 days ago I bought CREE 60w equiv globe bulbs for <$13 at HD. You need to check out my threads to see what low watt/cost leds can do.

Here are 4 clones vegging mostly under ONE 22w LED ($~35). As of yesterday, I increased to 3 bulbs as one is basketball size and its' leafs are shading 2 other plants. In fact, I just did some trimming to get more light below the canopy

okay first thread for some reason link is broken.
2nd thread is not proving anything as of yet.
We can see more on what that light does when it flowers.

I just went back and read your thread again. Okay you. Had them clones in a bubbler system for a month and that's all?

Also from the start of the thread you mentioned using "more" than just 1-22 watt led. You mention using a 7.5 watt with it and a couple days after added something else from what I read in your thread.
You did not say you added the extra bulbs yesterday in your thread

That's all??????

The 7.5w was not reaching the plants at all, so I took it out. Later, I replaced it with a 12w 5000K, but it was still too far to light the lower clones. Yesterday, I added a splitter and an extender

My point is a 20 watt tube flouro can do what your 22 watt led light is doing given the same time and enviroment(bubbler).
That's what I meant on your plant has been growing a month and "that's it". And to be technichal you said you have been using the other lights for longer than 1 night so to say you added extra lighting yesterday when in your thread you said you added a total of 3 bulbs 2 weeks ago.

Big fan of LED lights. low heat low power usage, great results. When shoppign for LEDS look for a unit with at least 6 bands and 3w bulbs. Basicy red/blue units or units with 1w bulbs are a lot cheaper but they dont penetrate as well or have an optimal spectrum for growth.
I got my LEDS on ebay for a decent price you jsut need to shop around and look for sellers with a lot of good feedback on there lights.
While the inital upfront cost of LEDs is a lot higher you save a lot in the long run since the same unit can last for a few years, and the power usage is lower.
On more thign with them is its better to have a unit for every 2 or 3 plants then it is to have 1 large unit covering an area, this is because the lights are most effective directly underneath them and having multiple units allows for much better coverage.
I myself am using 2 180w LEDS and 2 t5 HO flurosents for 4 plants and a herb garden in a 2x3x5 tent
T5's are great lights to, but they dont have a lot of penetration so while they are good for early veg when you get into late veg and flowering you need more of them for side lighting, which can get pricy quickly

Might just be me, but man that sure seems like alot of supplementing to be able to use LED....

My 2 HIDS cost me an addition 20 bucks a month, I can live with that.

well if you read it thoroughly it says i know of hps, hid's, and mh i was wondering of any other lighting setup that is not so expensive (cheap but affective setup) DUUHHH. And the person said cfls are a waste of time OBVIOUSLY i know there not the best that is why i posted a thread HERE my point is proven. So if anybody dont like what i have to say dont reply to my post then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
