Ok, i've been around the WWW in 90 minutes and I LOVE all the Trainwreck stories.... Makes it cool to know that I have another mystery strain on my hands. I especially love the stories that involve actual trains colliding. What if there was a Kush train coming from So Cal that had a shipment of sticky ass buds on it.... it collided with a train from up north loaded up with some BC buds on it. It crashed somewhere outside Arcada... conveniently. Some dude found a pile of weed that was actually samples from both trains that mixed together after the collision. The hippy took it home to his hipster brother's house - where he lived on the couch. He talked his hipster brother into letting him grow the seeds in the barn out back. The seeds were from both trains. The first crop was good, so he took some seeds to make the pure with and ended up making a cross between the two trains. While growing that in the same barn, some pollen blew in from the mountains out back. That shit blew down on those buds and crossed it once again - this time with some pollen from a mexican cartel grow in the nearby mountain. They were growing the famous Colombian Gold.... and the story goes on.... just sayin'... cool story or not, strains are like Tee Shirt Slogans. Without a cool story - your strain name probably won't make it past your home town....
All myths aside, I thought it was common knowledge that it's a Mexican x Thai x Afghani cross, but I could be wrong. What I do know is it's a great, fast flowering, heavy yielding sativa. The problem is that it tends to herm likely due to the thai influence. Although, i've grown out a good amount of TW S1s and found I really nice thai leaning pheno that I kept around for a while.

Trainwreck was a strain that I did a lot of searching for, myself. Back in the 90's, in Northern California, I used to get some of the best weed that I never knew the name of. Well, come to find out, after smelling bag after bag, I finally discovered that what I had back in the 90's was trainwreck. I went to a lot of dispensaries trying to figure out what it was.
Anyhow, that's my story. There are E32 cuts of it, Arcata, too. Allegedly, it was grown in Oregon and Humboldt County back in the 70's and 80's. I'm going to pick up an Arcata clone this week, come to think of it. Nothing really compares to the sweet, sunny orange smell of a classic trainwreck. You'll know if forever once you smell it.

Hillbilly Dream had a relly awesome Trainwreck from seed in 2003!!!!
I believe he was one of the originators or at least knew of the originators.
Yes....that was one of my favorite things about Trainwreck.....the smell was just fantastic!!!
Sweet citrus syrupy menthol maybe!
I had one bean turn out with the strongest fruity pebble flovor ever!!
But all pheno's were awesome in their own right!!!!!
I hear Hillbilly Dream seeds might be coming back.....they also offered other classics such as.....Herijuans, Salmon Creek Big Bud, Mota de Purple, 3D, asnd some sick Jamacian Lambs Breath!

Since 2009 I've figured out the answer to this question. Billgoat made it popular in Northern Humboldt. He did not originally create trainwreck as far as I know, but he did breed the two most popular types of trainwreck (e32 and the arcata cut).
