rubbermaid totes as flower pots?

I've been kicking around the idea of using green rubbermaid totes as pots for one of my upcoming outdoor grows and was wondering if anyone else has done this and what their experience was. I've tried search around for info but can't seem to find any. Maybe I'm not using the right keywords? (If I missed it somewhere I apologise)My only real concern is that maybe the totes won't be deep enough. Any insights?

Thanks for the reply Beech. Have you used it outdoors? Do you feel like it would be as good as using something like a garbage can?

Thanks again! It's a good read. It's funny, I've actually been researching organic soil mixes for this season and it just so happened to have what I was looking for in that regard as well. All most like you read my mind :P

Glad you could use the info there. I know that mix works well. It took me all the way to 2-3 weeks into flower before I had to add anything other than water. :D

Those $4-$5 cheapo totes at Wal-Mart seem like reasonable plant homes....:bigjoint:

That's what I was thinking, I have a bunch of green cheap totes I got at walmart from when I moved last year. So I figured instead of having them take up space and buy buckets I should just get two birds stoned at once :P

Do you use molasses during flower? What do you use for flower nutes? I've been using molasses DNF bloom A&B plus Maxibloom (I think that's what it's called) for the past few years and have been happy with it but am always looking for good advice from experienced growers.

I am not at all experienced. LOL I don't get all crazy with nutes. I have been using Maxsea and Liquinox 0-10-10. I did use molasses in the past but haven't bothered with it since. This year will be Liquinox and Earth Juice for flower.
