it seems like u can do it!! found this for u:

The switchable dual voltage adds to the versatility of this model. With a simple additional plug, you can easily change between voltages. Many ballasts do not have this feature, so that makes using this ballast much more convenient. It also operated with high-pressure sodium metal halide lamps. Metal halide lamps are a common choice amongst indoor growers. The model is compatible with both metal halide high-pressure sodium and regular metal halide lamps. Metal halide lamps are used commonly amongst indoor growers because of the wide spectrum of light they provide to the plants. With the combination of the hardcore remote ballast and metal halide lamps, your plants will be growing to the best of their ability.

if you are wanting to use the mh for vegging it is more cost efficient imo to just go purchase some cfls instead and not run an hid through veg..ive stated this many times nobody seems to disagree. the only thing they could disagree with is the fact that vegging may take less time with the mh but i doubt it makes a considerable difference to offset cost effectiveness of the cfls...anyway just curious as to why you decided to use the mh?

the hard core 1000 has a switch for using MH oR HPS, the 600 is for HPS ONLY, DO NOT PUT A MH in the 600 hps. Unless it is a 600 conversion type bulbhttp://www.sunlightsupply.com/p-13111-ushio-mh-conversion-lamps.aspx
