There Rootbound Already Craziness !?

So I currently have 5 plants on the go 3 Purple Kush, 1 AK, 1 Sour Kush right now I have 2 in 5 gallon buckets and the other 3 in 3 gallon buckets. There going on 6 weeks in veg and there already root bound !?:o Which is what I'm confused about not new to growing in anyway and I've grown all these strians before in the same pots, same room and climate and usually they last the whole cycle.

So my question is how can plants there are only 6 weeks old in veg be rootbound already when it hasn't happened before under the same conditions ? :-?

+Rep for anyone who can explain this

The roots grew faster this time, only thing I can think of.
Smallest pot I finish in is 7gal, but I grow trees+bushes.

Higher humidity can lead to more vigorous growth in veg, with a corresponding increase in root development speed. (just cracked my next seeds and hope to experience this) Surely not enough to fully root bound a plant in a 3 gallon container after only 6 weeks though. How vigorous are they? Do they look big enough to have root bound the pots? I've only just experienced it myself on my latest grow, but with 12 and 14 week veg plants - only the 14 week veg girl is really showing signs of it, the soil is solid right up to the top of the pot, yellowing to leaves etc. If you definitely have it then maybe you've got some potential super yielders. Don't knock it, get some 10 gallon containers and get ready for craziness.

I don't know where you live but here in Saskatchewan, Sept-May is the time when my plants look and produce the most. The time of year has a lot to do with the health of your indoor girls, heat, humidity and just general conditions are easier to control when it colder outside.

I can gain up to 4 zips depending on the time of year. At first I thought I was doing something "special" but after speaking with a couple of other gardeners we noticed a pattern and since can't wait for Sept. to roll around again.

Good Luck.

They look pretty vigorous there between 1 foot and half to 2 feet in height, all the fan leaves are massive about the size of my hand prehaps a little bit bigger something that usually doesn't happen untill atleast 2 weeeks into budding.

I filled this pots right up to the rim aswell I transplanted from 1 gallons into the 5gals and 3gals I'm using now. I wouldn't have thought they would have gotten fully root bound either but upon further inspection the roots are growing out of the drainage holes in the pots :-o.

I guess I'll be picking up some bigger pots and triple mix today :weed:

Just because you've got some roots growing out the bottom does not necessarily mean they are roootbound, just that they have grown to the bottom of the pot. Rootbound is when they circle the circumference of the pot several times.

I was going to say this!!!

Another thing you could try in future is to use airpots which air prune the roots.

You could do a larger vegging plant in a smaller pot until flowering time then transplant to your 5g pots and allow the roots to spread.

Since they've grown to the bottom of the pot, wouldn't they start circling soon since they have no more space to grow?

Not necessarily...I paint the interior of my pots with a "Microkote"...Google it...There is another product, "Spinout" but comes in larger volume than I have need for...FWIW
