YEP^^^..............Espoma tomato-tone(NJ) will take a month for it to show it's effects, your best bet ORGANICALLY is a fish based fert or brewed guano tea at this point. Interesting points the fabric pots........don't even get me started on those air-pots!!!!:P

good luck and be safe fellas
Word... maybe the tomato tone is just a waste then. Damn. Oh well. Back to the teas.

Preesh bro! And I'm gonna give the smarties one more shot before I go back to grow bags! They ended up pissing me off last grow too..
My biggest yielding was in a grow bag.....which I can get 10 for the price of a smart pot

Problem is - nobody smokes pure sativa any more. It doesn't look like OG so the kids all think it is shwag. It scares the shit outta me! First 20 minutes I think the sky is falling and then it is a nice buzz for 4 hours.
Yeah, anyone under 30 thinks it is premature... I stopped trying to explain and just say .."yep".
Then they take a couple hits of my Neville's Haze and they come around.

The 50+ crowd can't get enough of it.

I washed them and they held up, so that's a good thing lol. But I bought ten more for the next run, just to be sure that I don't like them lol.
If they don't work out for me I'm going back to the bag

It is a waste if it takes a month to take effect... my plants will be finishing in a month... maybe it will help at the last minute for one last growth boost. LoL.
Well heyyy....lol

And you do have 16 bulbs all together? or 16T5HO panels @ 5000L each?

I love grow bags... best shit ever. I just use once and throw away. I like that you can take a peek at your roots... checking for rot, pests, progress... When it comes to indoor flowering plants, I'll never use anything else. I like the 3 gal for indicas and 5 gal for sativas... coco.

Nice! I'm sold simply on the fact that you can roll them down to transplant lol and no disturb the root mass at all! I will always transplant from solo cup(cut it off carefully), to 1 gal grow bag after a couple weeks and then work from there! The final transplant outta the 1gal grow bag is a BREEZE!

Don't be throwing out that tomato tone Altar!! it's a good product(local company), I ran the plant-tone straight through with decent results, but you have to dump it on and keep doing it every couple weeks. MJ is a big N feeder! wants it all the time.

those white (2700k-5000k-6500k) T5HO aren't 5000 initial lumens.....5000k bulb gets very close but the others are around 4400-4600lm initially and it drops fast. Those aquarium bulbs are way lower due to the phosphor coating.

How is it that these grow bags allow for peekin' at the roots? I am not familiar with grow bags, have not used them.

That makes sense. Like I said, I don't think in lumens anyway, I think in PAR, when it comes to fluoros.

Not gonna throw out the tomato tone, haha. It's still good for mixing up soil! Just not gonna top feed any more of it at this point for htis crop, lol. I'm going to do a batch of soil today in fact...

You can just roll them down boss
Cool... that makes sense! How do they do with side drainage? Only issue I have with my one bucket is that water seems to run right down the sides and out the bottom if I let it go too close when watering. I gotta be careful to pool it in the middle and let it drain down repeatedly before I even think about touching the edges! The one thing I REALLY like about smart pots is that I can literally pool the water on the entire top and it will still drain down evenly... doesn't really run down the sides at all. Unlike AIR POTS, which I fucking hated for similar reasons... those were even worse about the edge drainage issue because it'd just shoot right out the sides, lol.

Wondering though, if the reason the smart pots don't drain out the sides when I hit the edges is because they are actually sort of clogged up with sediment and/or fine particulate matter... in which case maybe they are not doing their job anyway... not sure how well they can breathe if water can't get out. hm. I like my 5 gal bucket... I might invest in some more... lol. On the other hand, I think I'm going to try 12/12 from clone in much smaller containers next if I can get my mommas up in size beforehand...

Never had a problem over-watering bossman! I think that's a human error thing!
And when the water is running down the side, you're pouring the water to fast IMO.

Mist the top soil quite a bit about 15-20 mins before you water them all.
That way you break that surface tension for the main watering.
Give it a shot tho..It's tedious as hell...REALLY BOSS...IT IS...but it works so much better than just pouring the water on and letting it runoff.
I get so that I know how much water I should be giving per watering. I increase as the plants show the need for it..I take note and get them the day before they wilt...I'm thinking tho, with smart pots this upcoming grow, I'm gonna water them more frequently since the pots dry out faster, to kinda offset it ya know?

And If things are too compacted for you, that's no bueno. That means you need to add a little more perlite to the next batch.
I bet flooding the soil with water adds to compaction as well...

But yeah the last grow was on carpet lol, so I had to do everything with care lol...To avoid spills. Luckily I did!
But as a byproduct of that, I think watering carefully might have help me out! I also watered in twos.
Like I'd mist the topsoil of the plants to get them ready..20 minutes later hit them with an amount that would give the slightest runoff, then hit them 45 minutes later with half that amount.
Towards the end of flowering tho, I learned about a technique some ppl called "pumping" with is watering more often(tea every other watering) as every time we water, exchanges in the soil ecosystem happen as a result.
I didn't notice any ill effects either, so I wouldn't advise against it if you wanted to go for it! Got some CHUNKY nugglets tho lol.

And my smarties didn't get clogged, so I can't really relate boss. How do you water? And I've never grow in buckets boss, just bags and smarties.
But I KNOW FOR SURE that 1gal grow bags should become a staple in your operation homie! I transplant plants that we 4+wks into flowering and they didn't skip a BEAT! :joint:

What's all this hating on smart pots yo! lol

I don't buy those expsenive ass ones, I go cheap. 25 for 25$, $1 a bag :D

and I can grow a monster 6 ft plant in a 3 gallon, you have seen my plants ;) No root bound nothing.

Sorry to hear about your problems altar, brew up a tea and get those microbes going. I'm not talking out my ass on what I tell you. Take a look at my girls, they are happy :D

I was just speculating. The point was, I find that my smart pots don't drain down the sides (skipping soil absorption) no matter how much I pour on top. It just sits there and slowly seeps in, even if I pour a lake. The 5 gal bucket, on the other hand, will absolutely just dump down the sides if I did the same with that. That was all I was saying. Nevermind guys... sheesh. :P
