Wick Hydroponics

Well Technically as long as you need them to be.

They in thoery should be able to soak up water and transport all the way to the other end with no restriction.

Interesting to see a individual planning to use wick system.

I think the dutch invented it.

In all reality though it isnt the most simple setup one could choose.

and it makes flushing rather difficult if needed.

Also it would take some time for any change in the rez to take effect, and in fact if the plants hit nutrient lockout, they would stop taking in water, so even if you change the rez, they wouldnt be able to wick up the corrected solution.

So many problems with this system me thinks.

Yea the wick system is interesting. Wondering if its going to work correctly tho.
I have 2 Emily's Garden systems and they're wick systems. I put my seeds in rockwool, then into my EMSYS as soon as they show their first set of true leaves. It's sooo easy! Just keep your res topped, check ph, ppm and feed them! Can't over or under water, as long as you keep your res topped!

You just flush 3 X's the res capacity through the plant pots, refill with fresh water and nutes, BAM! You're set! Oh yeah, my system has a drain tube. It takes maybe 10 minutes to empty it!

I am wondering about wick length also - has anyone successfully used a wick where the length from water to soil (pro-mix) is 6-8 (or even 12) inches? I am not having much luck with my wicks. I have tried nylon rope and also just set one up with 100% cotton strip of towel. I have about 8-10 inches of wick running up inside the pot, and about 8 inches running down in to the water (there is probably about 6 inches of air between the wick coming out of the pot and before it hits the water). ??
