Hi, I was wondering if a mini split AC unit is good for a grow room the runs really hot between 80 and 90 degrees. The room is around 130 sq ft with 4 1000watt lights. Also it is on the second floor right under the roof, which draws alot of heat.

If the mini split is a good unit for this type of room how big a unit would I need?

Thankls

wait, what are the dimensions of the room about? 4k in a room that size seems small. You'd need at least a 5000btu unit which is about 100$, I'm thinking possible 10k btu cause 4k of lighting throws off a lot of heat and will only get hotter in there as the plants get bigger.

you need 4000 btu for each 1000 watt bulb, so you would need at least a 1 ton or 12,000 btu's to cool 4 1000 watt air cooled lights.
you would need more if they are open reflectors. i have a 24,000 btu for 3 open 1000 watt bulbs and it works perfect.

how much did that cost you, a 5k btu is usually around 600 watts thats gotta kill your monthly bill lol

The dimensions of the room is 13 by 10 with like i said 4 1000watt hps lights with open reflectors. So what do you think I need for BTUs. Could I get by with 12000 or 18000 BTUs? Problem is I am in Canada and everything I need I have to send to the US and I always get dinged by customs. Biggest one I have seen here in Canada that was reasonably priced is 18000 BTUs. thanks

my monthly is $430 I run 3 open 1000 watts in a sealed room with c02. 1 plant covers the electric. I didn't skimp on the a/c and got a top name brand at wholesale because i am a hvac contractor, it was $1800 you can get the china ones for 600 to $1200

how much do you produce each cycle? You doing a stadium grow or something with fewer plants with a longer veg? I ask cause I run with 1k with co2 currently and am about to buy two more lights for a total of 3k. Not sure if i wanna bare bulb it or use a cooltube for each 1k.

I run a perpetual, I average 3-4 zips a plant depending on strain. I use 5 gal pots with pro-mix,worm castings and growstones. Last run i used jack's 20-20-20 start to finish, i am going to use Dyna-gro foliage pro start to finish this time to see the result difference.

Depends on what temps you want to keep your room. That is a little small, so it may not get as cool as you want and will run the whole time the lights are on to maintain a decent temp.
running c02 allows you to run higher temps, so take that into consideration.
