So, I bought this kit for growing, it says it has everything you need to grow.

I feel out of my depth. I thought growing was just planting, lights, water.

Ehhhm...

It has 3 rock wool packets, all in diff sizes. 4 tubs of growth nutrition.

Hydroponic Growth feed A and B.

Hydroponic Bloom Feed A and B.

BIOPLUS: Increased root mass gives superior growth and yield.

PH down.

Light, ballast, reflector and stuff (ceiling hangers).

an auto watering kit with pumps? (all that is scary to me haha)

some seedling box (top left)

Timer

Loads of black out reflective wallpaper.

ph test kit

I really didn't think it'll be this complicated, I just want to grow a couple plants...

Can anybody help me with the nutrients and stuff (how to apply to plants? haha)

I thought I did enough research! D:

I know, it's my fault for not doing enough lol.

But my seeds are in the process of germinating right now, so I'll need to set it up. I'll start by hanging the lights and shit.

Is it really worth having an auto watering thing for a couple plants?

I might just not use the rockwool and the auto watering stuff, I bought some soil and pots the other day, that should be okay to use, right?

I'm researching now, since I don't even know how much nuts to put into the water yet haha.

no nutes for about 3 weeks or until those round seedling leaves turn brown.. automatic watering is no good especially for a newb. the biggest mistake people have is over fert/water. they use more as they get older and fert levels will change so just water by hand till you know your plants... if your gonna go dirt add perlite for drainage. i would stick with a hydro ish method like the rock wool... keep ph somewhere around 6 and yea..

Cheers mate, all it takes is a bit of reading my end. The kit also has instructions to grow as well. I'll get reading! :D

you got a lot of work to do bro, considering your seeds are germing. your gonna need your grow room pitch black when the light is off. and definately a fan for your light. im guessing its a 400 watt that will do about a 2x3ft space, what seeds are you doing? keep the light about a foot from your babies.ill help you with your grow room setup if i can/if you want, you better get on it!

I got a shit ton of white blackout/reflective wall paper, i'll start putting that up now, I have a fan ready, i'm growing white widow and and some seeds that is quite easy to grow, the website says. My mate is coming over in about 30 mins, he is gonna help me attach the lights to the ceiling.

This is the grow.

(Wiring into the closet is not a problem.)

It also goes further in to the side.

yea that closet looks perfect...its alot more work but i feel like im not getting the most out of my light if its not on constantly, that closet would be perfect if you cut it in half and moved the light every 12 hours, just a suggestion.but yea good space, i would do 2 rows of 3 plants but thats me.

Yeah, thanks. If they die, i'll just get more seeds and put more effort into researching. If they succeed, I'll look into cloning and shit. :)

You can go by the vitalink feeding schedule here: http://www.vitalink.eu/en/_guides/max_schedule.pdf Just remember to start out with about 1/4 strength and work your way up to see how your plants will respond.

Are you looking to grow in soil or hydro? If this is your first go at growing, I would advise against starting with hydro. For soil, know what you are growing in. Find out if what you get has nutrients already in it or if it is sterilized. If it is sterilized, you will need to feed it all the nutrients it needs right from the get go. If it comes with nutrients in it already, you wait 3-4 weeks before beginning to feed.

Try to keep it simple.

I would recommend getting the Marijuana Growers Handbook to get you started. http://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Growers-Handbook-Complete-Cultivation/dp/0932551467/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368107579&sr=8-1&keywords=marijuana+growers+handbook This book will answer a lot of your questions and is a great reference book. There are many, many others out there as well.

Do you know what strain you have? If you do, research it. Find out what type of environment it likes. If you do not know, don't worry. If this is your first grow, it should be about learning more than getting some awesome bud. Keep your expectations low but keep a positive attitude and be patient.

Thanks! So, would this vitalink stuff still work with soil and not rockwool? and can I just mix it with water, then add/pour into soil?

I guess first time is always experimenting.

It will work with both soil and hydro. Growing hydro has its benefits but it is not nearly as forgiving as soil and simple mistakes can cost you your whole crop which is why I recommend growing in soil first before moving on to hydro but the choice is all yours. You can plant the rockwool right into the soil. You have to mix the nutrients with water because the nutrients are super concentrated. Once you have it all mixed, then you need to check and adjust the PH of your water/nutrient mix(the PH you want depends on if it is a soil or hydro grow). This is very, very important and something a lot of new growers overlook and can make all the difference in the world. Make sure the water you give is not too hot or too cold. It should be around 70-75 degrees F.

It is a learning process but it is very fun and becomes quite addictive. Take it all in and keep a notebook handy to take notes. Here is a good video series by Jorge Cervantes called Ultimate Grow that you can watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-dkX6dsEHQ

The great thing about this site, is the wealth of information the stickies hold. A sticky is at the top of each forum section and has been placed there because it provides direct easy to understand instructions.

I would recommend going to the Newbie Forum first. It will help you get through the first couple weeks.

Good luck to you!
