caregivers really give free meds?

can we ever be honest on here? CAREgiver was chosen verbiage to get the law passed. I can't for one second think that everyone who voted was thinking only of an altruistic hippy style commerce where we all just gave each other our plants and materials and shared and got along all happy happy happy. A show of hands who wants this to continue just the way it is and never evolve into something accepted and legal in a total way where commerce is accepted and storefronts offer the product. Are we really hoping that for every 5 consumers there is one master grower that grows for his 5 and it never goes beyond that point? or that everyone learns to grow great herb for themselves? If I'm outnumbered in my opinion then I will go, no fuss no muss. I thought I was part of a majority on here who wanted more progress so we can pursue what we love as a career, if this is a minority opinion and everyone is happy with the current system I'm cool and I can find a flock with birds of my feather somewhere else. I mean I looked it up and checked out rare dankness as a company and I'm pretty sure they are a for profit company who sells their hard work to people who pay willingly for it and appreciate the effort. in that spirit I thought Rare D and I were on the same page, we are not and I won't talk about him or the company anymore I'm not a shit talker so your name is out of my mouth man live and let live. without getting bogged down in the numbers of plant count watts/gram/foot and costs to operate vs. cost to consumer; do you (anyone reading this) want to grow your plants and make your products for a living and to make some scratch? Maybe just a little dough on the side for your labors? I know I do. I have followed what I love doing and made what I consider successful businesses out of them. I train people who need exercise, its life and death for alot of them, no joke without the help I provide they are going to die prematurely. I charge for that. I don't charge everyone the same every time but it is pretty standard rates and like I said without the help they seek from me they are going to die from obesity and inactivity without a doubt. I think that's actually more life and death than herb for most people I meet that smoke. I have never been accosted for charging these people who need that direction so badly as I have been on here for charging for pot. I don't caregive to cancer patients, I have some legit pain patients with sever pain and some that are just hurting wink wink. so I wonder what is the difference between physical training and care giving that one should command a price and the other should have benefits of free or highly discounted medicine? Please, if your answer contains the word "legal" in it forget it keep walking don't even type it-the law was joke when the scheduling came out in Nixon's day and it's a joke now that we have an act for our state. I speak to the moral aspect in this post.
^THIS . . . fucking spot on brother!!

Your evolving this man i think everyones for progression and hopefully %100 legalization. im just simply pointing out how it is now no one said its fair or forever just how it is right now hopefully that will change so it can make room for everyone but as of right now its medical and they have tight laws . sry if you truly were getting mad was never my objective thought we were having a civil debate. No harm no Foul

Fistoffallen: I was feeling a little butt-hurt at first I will admit that. especially from the exchange I had with Rare D. I have/had (not sure where I'm at with that right now) alot of respect for the guy and felt a little jumped on and talked down to but my perception is mine alone so that is what it is. I long for the day it ends is all, I'm passionate about it and probably ahead of myself but I want to grow and breed and make tinctures etc. all day, for a living and really put my whole heart into. But to do that I have to drop all the things that pay my bills and compensate me for my time (work) to give it my all and without a change in law and even more important I think public perception its not really possible or at least not feasible for me right now. The baby steps are small and I am growing old too fucking fast, I get impatient. I rant. what can you do? Commiserate I guess. Like I said, I thought my opinion was in the majority and I was feeling pretty minority when I wrote that wondering where I was in the RIU crowd with that opinion. Scrotie, your post picked me up more than you know dude thanks. I was feeling pretty alone there and knowing there is just one other helps immensely.

So with his god given right to grow 12 plants, he has no ability to transfer meds, but with the patients plants he does? That is the same self-serving logic all the other low-brows profess. I see this logic on Judge Judy every day, and it's not coming from the judge...
Apparently you don't follow the news. There was a recent supreme court ruling here in MI that clarified the law. As a caregiver you can only transfer meds to your registered patients. So yeah, without patients you have no LEGAL right to transfer meds to anyone.

I didn't say that I liked it, or that it was fair, but that is the facts. Learn how to read before spouting off.

what the holy fucking who gives a shit whatever boy! I grow what I grow. I do what I do. Obviously no matter what anyone says there will be dicks that like the current system and live in communes giving everything away for a smile a hug and cheese wheel for trade. There will be the evil profiteers and there will ALWAYS be threads about how one side hates the other. fuck it! but know this turds: without the profiteering drug dealers over the years there would be no marijuana to fight over. If we had all obeyed the law we would no have gotten to where we have these laws. here is an analogy for you: you're all like hamsters so dumb you think every time somebody opens the cage its a new day and you can't remember yesterday as soon as today gets here. we're all legal beagle now and always were yesterday didn't happen.
Really? So because I give free meds to my patient who has had half his brain removed, was having 5-10 grand mal seizures a week, and are up to their eyeballs in debt I'm a tree hugging dick? Blow it out your ass!

I really don't care what you choose to do. If you want to sell every last bud that you grow then knock yourself out, but don't come at caregivers and patients like that when plenty of people are OK with giving some free meds away to their patients. You're just as bad as the patients that think that they own the plants that someone else is growing for them and should get everything for free. You're just the other end of the spectrum.

I have no problem with what you do stow. Never have. I disagree with being forced into this box. you wouldn't like it if you were forced to charge people anymore than I like being forced into the system we have now. I didn't come at you or call you a dick. highlight it if you want to but the point was not that everyone who likes the system is a dick, the point is there will be dicks on that side that fight to keep it that way and only believe that way is right. I don't want anyone to tell you not to give things away free I'm sure you do a great service and the world is better with you in it doing what you do-I disagree with being forced into that way of doing what I do. Respect stow, respect; I got respect for you and didn't mean you are a dick for feeling that way. cool?

It's cool Cory. This topic just gets me fired up. You know as well as I do that everyone is different and every situation is different. I don't hate on anyone for doing their thing, and I don't agree with anyone that tries to shove their morals down anyone's throat. If there is anyone that is 100% satisfied with this law then they are in the minority. I enjoy growing weed, and I just so happen to have a patient that is in need big time, and I choose to hook them up. I'm fortunate to be able to do so. I also realize that times are tough and people need to put food on their table, so charging for meds is A OK in my book. The only thing that really matters is if you and your patients are happy with YOUR arrangement.

You all should be able to do business the way you choose too. Thats the way it is. I just hope no more of you leave because there is truly a wealth of infomation for people here in the Mich forum just starting out. I have been growing for 14yrs now and have learned a lot of new things from each of you and I owe you a debt of gratitude. The laws have had us all on edge and thats BS. But for now it is what it is.:weed::hug:

I understand trying to make it work in the system we have. But this hippy stuff you keep mentioning makes sense. I for one want nothing more than to bring down the system. If I could find a network of people that agreed and could trade skills and such that would be great. Then maybe everyone so concerned with how to make some money and stay legal could not worry about it. Hell, I'd give free meds to people willing to help bring it all down!

Isn't a dispensary a "caregiver" if you show your script to get meds? Just cause I bought meds and showed my card doesn't mean the spensary gets to grow my plants. If I let them grow mine, they then become a cooperative or collective with me....and your work out the details and what your are "entitled" to....at which point I think I am technically required by law to contribute to the efforts.....like working or paying bills for the operation....is this not correct?

That is not correct. Dispensaries are illegal.

Is the OP in Michigan? Btw I am assuming by law you mean statutory law.....i.e. pertaining to a statute....a law is like Colorado amendment 64 because it changes the Constitution.

Yes, this is the Michigan forum, the OP is in Michigan. And there have been court rulings that ruled dispensaries to be illegal as there is no language about them in the Michigan medical marihuana act.
