Deciphering...

"I haven't read Orwell at all, but if you think he was a socialist, you read him wrong."
19th century socialist = classical liberal of the enlightenment believing in mocving society towards a free and open form based on democracy and equality for all people

20th century socialist = marxist statist who believes in subjugating society to his desires and constructing palaces for himself while the workers who actually build the palaces live in hovels.

go play in traffic dumbass. orwell called himself a socialist, as the word was used in his day, but if you told him "socialist" would become the word associated with people like kim il sung, idi amin, stalin or franco he would punch you in the mouth and declare himself a Libertarian.

I stopped reading here. Why open with a line like that? Usually I can get through a few lines in your posts before you tell a lie that doesn't even sound entertaining. He was a fucking Anarchist. You're just an idiot. You aren't even entertaining me.

Classical liberal = Social Darwinist.

Socialist = Egalitarian.

Mutually exclusive bro.

if i were to put my own center left leaning spin on this, i would say that i support "socialism" as equality only in the sense of opportunity, not outcome.

total egalitarianism/equality is a pipe dream, and undesirable to human nature. like it or not, there will be classes.

It may be intrinsic to human nature to seek power but it is equally natural for the disadvantaged to seek equality.

"I think it only makes sense to seek out and identify structures of authority, hierarchy, and domination in every aspect of life, and to challenge them; unless a justification for them can be given, they are illegitimate, and should be dismantled, to increase the scope of human freedom" -Noam Chomsky

But monopolies are market creatures. "The use of force" is not a commodity. I would defend semantic rabbit holes ... their resolution is a key component of proofing philosophies for utility/applicability in the real world. cn
Everything is a commodity in a free world.

I tend disagree if I understand you here, I believe an utterly free market is precisely what the plutocracy wants. They certainly prefer that to a left leaning system which would redistribute their wealth.
All these left leaning systems of wealth redistribution almost universally redistribute into their pockets. If they didn't, they wouldn't continue to be getting massively filthy rich - often off government granted contacts.

Tax me more says Buffet. As his stock holdings receive massive tax payer bailouts... he knows the game.

Wherefore doth thine nonaggression principal reconcile upon exclusive deed regarding innate wherewithal, kinsman?

Capitalism is wealth redistribution. The rest of us can't just inherit more coal.

shitty music videos from failed lefty posuer-punk douchebands...

what a fine way to express your political views and rebutt the facts stated clearly.

leftism doesnt work, it USES the work of others to glorify the collective, while the individual peasant is just a cog in the machine, to be used up and discarded.

at least capitalism pays him for his work.

leftism's only remuneration is a bullet to the peasant's head, while while he kneels over the new mass grave he just finished digging.

That's why I have no illusions about Social-Democracy ever becoming a ruling party in Canada (even though Provincial gov'ts had that a few times).
However, they make for an outstanding official opposition to keep the Conservatives' "everyone is a criminal" bullshit in check.
And now that I think about it, you'd probably fit quite well into the Canadian Liberal party, who are more centrist than US Democrats.
It's too bad you don't have those kinds of options south of the 49th...maybe one day?
