^^^Wow the panels that grew those must of used CREE designed LEDs. What exactly are those? And why do you need 450 watts of power to run CREE designed LEDs? Oh I'm sorry you haven't got the chance to spam us with your bullshit yet. Shields up kids, Lush Lite has come to try to steal your money. Now prove me wrong KF.

They got ran off of another forum a few weeks ago for making wild claims, one was a 180,000 lumen 435w light they have. (413 lumens per watt!!)

What he's doing (per his own words), he's putting a lux meter point blank right up to the lamp to get that number. Then went on to say 1 lumen = 1 lux.

I really dig the 660nm, IR and UV Cree's he's using too.

I really hope this guy sticks around, he's really entertaining.

Don't be so sure about that ......Generally speakin' ...

Anyway ...As Guod stated ,they are two different things the Absorption and the " Action " (Relative Quantum yield ,more precisely ) spectras ...

Thing is that most of higher green plants ,they absorb & use every single photon they get in their leaves ,from ~ 360 nm up to ~ 730-740 nm ....
(At least for driving photosynthesis ) ...

There's not such a thing as wasted light ....

Much nicer and informative. I appreciate the help in getting my point correct...rather than the bash. I really liked the article. I try to speak in the most simplistic way I can on the forums so that all people can get a grasp of the concepts we led'ers talk about. When I do that I sometimes mis-use some words like useless and recently the mis use of absorption and action. I do know the difference and I'm glad you pointed it out my high moments.

As for lush lighting...they did make some big claims on the other forum and got booted mid conversation/debate so it never got settled but his pic of his room are awesome. He has one hybrid room and one all led and they look like they pull some weight so even.
 
IDK :), this design has been around for awhile now, but have seen zero grows with it. If you can get it for $1 a watt why not and don't expect more than a 1.5x1.5 ft flower area. I do like the fact of no secondary lenses and wide lens angle/reflector BUT make sure you keep your girl short(scrog/lst).

Personally I would save a some money and get a better quality led panel with PROVEN results..........your going into uncharted territory with ^^ that panel

Thanks for the replies. Yes, to supplement 600w HPS so a bit of an experiment, I too like the reflector idea (but am a newb with LED grow lighting) (i'm also not game to grow more than a few plants here so 1.5ft might be good enough?)

48x LED... (so closer to 2w consumption/output?)..
 
Ah right, minus the fan. Do the drivers 'take' power? Well, grabbed a couple and seem to have found a fairly chatty chinese partner, they were here in 3 days... If I knew what to ask, i would.. i guess without a light meter the proof will be in the pudding (or not haha). Anyway.. be some time before I can test them on their own.

Couldn't resist having a look inside. They would all be pretty standard? 2x 500-550 m/a drivers (i'm guessing that's what they are) a 12v 1a fan and i assume that's its transformer? All looks very chinese : ) at least there aren't great blobs of silicone everywhere lol..

The larger grow store in our town is pushing this 300w neosol by illumatech as equivalent or better than a 600w hps. They pull out lightmeters and talk it up real big as newest and greatest thing in the industry to anyone who asks. Its kind of strange because I never see these guys push products like that. I always try to keep to myself when im there as much as possible so I thought I would ask some guys with real led experience what they thought of these. A "300w" is around $1250. I grow under 6-1000W hps and grow 6' trees. The only thing ive considered leds for at this point is possibly supplemental lighting. So heres a link any opinions would be appreciated. Yeah I have some of those surexi clusters they have been mentioned on here and a few places. I bought 4 with a driver from theledstore.com.au just out of curiosity. They are waterproof, there is a tube vid of someone growing tomatoes out in the garden lol. There are a few places selling those lightbars Iv'e seen.

This lushledlighting reminds me of Eshine LED lights.
Lux and lumens are different units. Based on my own tests, it is about 35or 38 lux = 1umol PAR.

I wish I could apply solder paste with a screwdriver tip ,in order to reflow Oslons ! ....
That would 've made my life lot easier ....
 
solder paste at 40°C is like warm butter


At that temperature /state of paste ,applying it over a stencil is .....well .... disastrous ....

I've discovered ,that the cold paste ,makes better stencils .( paste "sits" in a perfect pad shape ,after stencil is removed ....)

With warm paste ,everything I did was only a mess !
Paste was in liquid form and did not retain the tiny Oslon's pad shape ....

I guess that solder paste temps ,have to be different ,depending on the application ...
 
I think you guys should read the title, maybe you were boffins beforehand but otherwise remember that learning curve.. with all the scattered info on here i'm struggling to keep up as it is. I thought this was a newby type thread? ; )
