first grow cfl

So i just started my grow. My plants are a week old and looking really healthy and good. I am useing 4 100 watt cfls all at the 5000k spectrum of light. I went to home depot and lowes and could not find the 6500k spectrum lights inbthe wattage i was looking for. I am not useing any nutes at the moment considering I'm on a budget but as soon as i get paid i plan on useing fox farm soil trio (big grow big bloom and tiger bloom) any input will be helpfull thanks

With cfls you need to look at the true watts not equivelant. They'll be fine for a bit but trust me after a while they will start growing slowly and be light deprived. I would say you need 300 true watts to keep them growing at a sastisfactory rate.

23 watt CFL's are = to 100 watts...
So you have 4 -23 watt cfls...
Keep light closer to plants... around 4" even less...
Yes, once in a while you burn a plant tip... but I am getting about 1/2" on node spacing, so more lights [as you can afford]... and closer...

Ya they are about 2 inchs from the plants i had to lift the lift light so icpuld to take the picture shpuld i add more lights or do you think that will be fine

Wats up GGG ur little ones are looking good. 2'' is perfect for this age. As far as lights go, get as many as possible. I have 15 x 26w and a 150w hps i jus threw in, REMEMBER U CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH LIGHT ;-).

Ya they had them at walmart bit they were out of stock and had to get those ones they seem to be working fine im planing on making a new light out of a aluminum baking pan and 4 more 100 watters. I hope i can find the 6500 k bulbs and getting my nutes this friday ill post more pics tmr and thanks for all the feedback i llike rollitup. I learned everything i know by reading posts from this fourm ;)

5000k not a good choice for best growth out of a CFL - get on Amazon and buy ya some 40 watt 6500k lights $9 bucks a piece, Im a newbie that loves veggies but take my advice for what its worth .02 ;-)

Ya i am aware the the 6500k is the best choice but like i said I'm on a budget and i got a 4 pack of the 5000k bulds for 7 bucks. You can't go wrong with that lol. I have another picture i can't seem to get my phone to upload my picturea through the tab up at the top so i have to use photo bucket.
