I'd get an 8 bulb if you can afford it. But six would be fine, would get crowded at end of veg.

What size pots?
There is a big differences in plant size at 1 month vs 2 months...

4 bulb would work. You might have some shoots that get beyond your reflector, but no big deal.
I got 3 plants (2-gal pots) under my 2' 4-bulb T5 HO, with a couple other small plants. Plants are trained during veg (e.g., topped, LST, supercrop). Light works fine.

I don't do anymore than 3 plants under my 4 foot 4 bulb fixture. I would say if you're growing more than 3 plants to definitely get 6-8 bulbs.

I have an 8 bulb Bad Boy. I would gt 2 @ 4 bulb- easier to change bulbs, adjust positions...

The BB allows me to use 2 side-by-side bulbs at a time. I use 2 for seedlings/clones, then 4, then 6, then 8 as they grow. 3rd pic is of my new hydro halo drip system (see my thread to follow along)

I purchased a 4ft 4 bulb I also have a 2ft 4 bulb so ill probably put one under that and the other under the 4ft just using these to get decent sized and the possibly move outside if I can find a safe enough place I purchase a 8 bulb and sent it back that thing got temps really high but it was in a small tent to tho

If you can get proper ventilation/air flow you wont have to worry about heat, T5s really don't throw off much heat at all, even ran 24/0.

I agree with flora, when the plants are really young/small you can use only the one light, also, 2 4bulbers would allow you to create a tipi effect allowing the t5s to better penetrate below the canopy.
