Quick cure question

Hey RIU. I trimmed up my harvest completly and hung in my dark tent with an exhaust fan and small fan (not directed at the buds) on low. Temps were 18-20C and RH at 50-55% for 5 days.
On the 5th day I trimmed off the popcorn buds (about 4.5 grams) and tossed that into a jar with a hygrometer. RH read 62% the next day in that jar.
Day 6 I jarred the rest of the crop. Broke the bigger colas into smaller nuggets and placed into mason jars.
I took the hygrometer from the jar with the popcorn buds and placed it in a jar with mostly larger buds. Later that night the RH read 61%. Today is reading 62%.

My question is, will potency/taste be affected because I did not slowly burp the jars down below 65% RH? Also should I not burp the jars at all and just keep an eye on them for the next week before my first burp with the rest of the crop?

Burp daily with 62%? I thought this is the time to slow the burping process?

62% is pretty high. Basically the dry should be at least 7 days maybe bit more. You want the buds dry but not crumbly with the stems dry enough to make the snap noise. then into jars and I burp twice a day for 15 minutes until the buds have an even dryness and firm feel without being crisp. Once to that stage its in the sealed jars for no less then 30 days I occasionally will chek them every few days to make sure they arent holding moisture in them

So I should still be burping them atleast once a day at 62%? The majority of the crop has been in jars only 26 hours and reading 62% RH (havent burped them yet). Popcorn buds have been in jars 52 hours and burped once today for 10 minutes.

I have never really looked at the exact humidity. I have never met a grower who has in 20 plus years of growing being around growers or care givers its all about the look and feel. to me 62% seems like your asking for mold.

Was just reading "The perfect cure" and it says 60-65% RH means its curing. My last crop didnt turn out well and I have a little over a QP I dont want to screw up! So do I need to burp it slowly til the jar is a little less than 60% then store for a couple weeks to get that nice dank smell?

So yes follow the advice [of a perfect cure everytime] exactly and you will get a perfect cure...everytime...

62% is fine, 4 hours of 62% open jar... for a few minutes...
Now, today in my house it's 68% RH...
It would be hard to get it below that, are you taking ambient RH into factor?

Are you sure your rh meter is accurate? They are notoriously bad.
Look up the wet salt method to calibrate them. I have 2 and, even though I calibrate, they often go 5-10% out of synch.

Found this one time on another website.Been using it & so far , so good.
70% too wet
65-70% almost open lid 1-2 hrs.
60-65% stems snap
55-60% curing
below 55% - too low.

I ended up burping all 8 jars of nice buds for 3 minutes, completely taking them out and putting them back in. I busted up 0.5g of small popcorn nuggest and rolled it in a joint. toook a bit to get it through the grinder, little wet still.. burned almost even, had to take the lighter to it a couple times but ive bought worse.. Taste isnt there but isnt gross. Smells alright but not near as strong as id like. Should i keep burping quickly once a day till RH drops then cure for 2 weeks completly stored? ANY advice is appreciated, really dont want this to go to waste.

thanks man. what do you mean 4 hours of 62%. My ambient humidity is high 60s so shouldn't be a problem? Thanks again for the help

It really depends on what you're trying to do. At the point you're describing, you're still so wet that you aren't able to get through a joint without lighting it a couple times, you would have been asking for trouble without opening it. Honestly you might want to think about leaving it open an hour and see where you're at, shake the jar, and leave it another hour and see where you're at.

Thanks I may try that tomorrow. I put the hygrometer in a new jar and it also reads 62%. when I took them out today they were dry on the outside but the small airy buds are spongy to squeeze and the bigger buds are dry on the outside but really dense and hard spongy feeling. (I suck at describing shit)

is this how the buds should be after almost 36 hours in jars?

I want the process to take long to get the most out of the bud so waiting isnt an issue. I just want all the chlorophyll to escape the buds properly. after a disappointing harvest I need to gget this one right
