Thanks for that input! Didn't know, or experience it to think that way. I'm impulsive when it's something like this. Very well could of bought the first thing I found. I'm also not rich. So my method usually goes as follows, Sort: "Lowest to Highest Price" Then look for the best reviewed item at the lowest cost... But a 250W I know nothing about.

You might of saved me a couple $100. I thank you for that! :lol:

Any advice for getting some good beans, that won't land me in cuffs?
No prob man that is what this site is for, it is why I love it. I am a new grower as well, so don't have tons of exp. But I did a lot of research, best place to point you about how to buy seeds is the thread below and tell you about my specific experience with buying seeds.

https://www.rollitup.org/seed-strain-reviews/108893-how-mane-how-order-seeds.html
<-- this thread also put my wife's mind to ease, as while I am doing a legal grow (thank you MA voters!) buying seeds is not.

My understanding of it is that strain is VERY important as it is one of the highest factors in potency, while most of the growing techniques increase yield more than potency. So make sure to do your research on the seeds you pick.

I am growing autos, I knew I wanted WoS Afgani Kush Ryder (AKR) because general consensus is it is a killer Autoflowering strain. I was originally going to get it directly from World of seeds as it is the breeder and had better prices that I could find elsewhere. Problem was I saw tons of bad reviews saying that seeds they received from WoS were not feminized and one was not even a cannabis seed (yet, no bad review after 2010). So I started to research companies not seeds, i found Attitude had the best all around reviews and I think I was only able to to find one bad thread about them on rollitup. So while decided to pay around $20 more and get 4 less seeds (including the shipping options, etc).

I decided to go with their stealth options (added ~8$) and crush proof tin (added about ~2$). They shipped the day after my order went through took about 8 days to get to my house (may take longer now depending on where is is shipping into to and if the sequesters are impacting that customs location). The stealth options means the put the tin in a piece of apparel of your choice (Tshirt). Either way it got to me quickly and I germinated 2 in a paper towel with both popping. So far a good review for Attitude!

Somehow the plants are doing fine. I had them outside just to see what would happen. They seem happy, Using the old CFLS while waiting on the HPS and MH light kit....

You can clearly see where they started growing after the transplant, its almost like a new plant started growing out... Here's some pics.

6 Dayss later, growing under CFL's still. But in my tent, went through a whole problem of being charged two times by the light kit seller. Rough week... 18/6 light, 18-18-21 with 1tsp Epsom Salt per gallon. They look beautiful and healthy so far!!!

Perfect averages.

Maya growing strong;

And Tron, one of the strangest growing plants I've seen lol. But, growing FAST and healthy. It somehow split on it's own, I have no clue whats going on.

Tomorrow is the big day! Going CFL to 250w MH/HPS. Here are some more pics so far!
Should I do 24 hr darkness after switching the lights? Or let it continue.

Tent;

Maya;

Tron; Is it possible to be showing signs of male already?

Comments much appreciated!

For some reason I can t see the node shot on photo bucket so cant get close enough to see if those are balls or not, but besides that they look healthy. How old are they from sprout?

They are about 7 weeks old. But the beginning was rough. And they didn't grow much or were healthy till recently. They are about 3-4 inches tall. Not really sure if it IS possible. But one looks like it has balls.

Well, Tron ended up being a Male :(

Hooked up the system. and noticed one MAJOR problem. The tent went from 76deg to 91deg in 10 minutes. i have a 6inch fan blowing out and a passive intake for cooler air. i actually have ice infront of the intake right now... I'm not sure what to do...

UPDATE!
TEMP NOW AT 97 FML

yes HIDs are much hotter then CFLs; but there is a breaking point to CFL. Ice in front of intake will only cool so much AND melts quickly so is a pain.

what is the CFM on your exhaust fan? You need enough CFM to circulate the air out (and create negative pressure hopefully), if you have a speed controller then turn the fan to max.
Ambient temp outside of the tent? If it is summer time and is 80+ outside you tent, your tent is only going to be hotter. If you have ways of reducing outside temps do it. I run my central air very cold, and my wife hate me for it. She doesnt know its to keep its for my girls.

I'm not sure of the cfm. It's a 6in desk fan that I took apart and attached it to 6in ducting. Most likely not sealed.

Just now turned the A/C on. I'm back to my basic CFLs for now. I might need to invest in a 6in duct fan. Or two.

My room temp was at 79 when I had the MH going.

Also wondering if its the brand of my MH bulb.

Probably not a brand issue, if your Room temp is 79 degrees you tent can only be hotter never cooler. You seem to get about a 10 - 15 degree lift in your tent.

The duct fan will only do so much as well, but you small 6 inch desk fan I am sure isnt doing much. You will need a fan and carbon scrubber (for smell during flowering period). You can go cheap and get a inline fan like the one below, or get a go a little more expensive if you need to be stealth and care about noise (and combo).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-x-14-Carbon-Air-Filter-Value-Combo-4-Inch-Inline-Fan-Exhaust-F016-/281102466057?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4173033c09 - fan and scrubber combo, I have this one for my 2.6x2.6x5ft tent it works fine. Although still a little loud for my taste but im anal.

Go back to CFLs for now, if you have AC in that room and can afford to have it running a lot then get it churning to bring down the temp of your room to around 70 (lower the better). Get a good fan and your tent should range from 75 to 80 hopefully.

Couple more things - if you get carbon scrubber dont hook it up UNTIL it starts to smell. the things have a lifespan why waste any of it (thanks to Soup who told me to disconnect mine! lol). Also if you can exhaust you air someplace different then where you are getting it from. The exhaust air can actually heat up the room you are exhausting to making heat control a vicious cycle and ups your AC bill.

Thanks alot, I was thinking about getting a 6inch duct fan. I figured out my CFM and looking for fans compatible.

Good point on where the exhaust goes. I'm limited because of the electric socket situation. No where near my widows.
