I have heard good things about foliar feeding with Liquid Light + Saturator. I will be trying it this grow. Pro-tekt is silica. I read a thread in the hydro boards months ago where it was pretty much determined Pro-Tekt had the most silica and was the "best" between Botanicare's Silica Blast and AN's Rhino Skin.
Pro-Tekt and my plants do NOT get along. It does more damage than good when use as a foliar spray. Be careful with liquid light too. Heis recommended it to me and I think it's just too much for my plants since they are outdoors.

Try the Cyco silica. It is supposed to be the best for the money.

Just a quick update about Thrips and Spinosad. Treat the soil with a soil drench if you have thrips. The difference between using Montery in the soil and just spraying the foilage is night and day.
Do a soil drench for best results. Surprised this was not the first thing people recommend when treating these pests. Do 3 treatments over 15 days to help wipe them out.
Hope that helps.

I have never used pro-tekt as a foliar spray.

In hydro we have nutes that are partially organic like pure blend pro and flora nova, and bennies keep the water free from pathogens. Some people (like Heis) also feel like h2o2 slows down root growth in clones and sick/recovering plants. So there are a couple reasons for bennies in hydro. The main reason I run bennies is simply so my roots don't get slimed.

I have been using Actinovate to fight Take all root rot.
I'm curious to see if ACtinovate will work as a preventative for Powdery Mildew on Crepe Myrtles.
I picked up 18oz for $125... next year I will have a chance to really try out the PM/Crepe thing.
figure out how actinovate works and you will have your answer.
