Question. Which Methods of Cloning Are You Guys Using?

I accidentally did the “ Water Method” by leaving the Cuttings in a container of water and then realizing a couple weeks later that they had Roots……

Then I tried Rockwool with Humidity Dome and that was simple and easy…

I now Have Jiffy Pellets (coz my grow shop ran out of Rockwool) and I am not very impressed with Jiffy Pellets…. (though I did Squeeze the Water out of them "this time") (lol)

How R U Guys Doing It?

Jiffy pellets and a dome works fine for me, though i found out by pure chance that rooting powder from my local garden centre gets me roots faster than clonex. And its half the price of clonex:)

Bog standard humidity dome and 1" rockwool. The second they are cut, straight into a little pot of clonex to soak whilst I cut another dozen. Sounds obvious but trim ya leafage etc before you angle cut the bottom of you cutting. I also double dip the clones in clonex, put cutting into rockwool and you will see that most of the clonex is at the top of the rockwool, i take it back out and dip again before pushing the stem down deep into the cube. Put em in a room with natural daylight, doesn't need to be near a window and leave em. Rehydrate the cubes every 4-5 days, 99% success.

I experimented for quite a while until I settled on a protocol that works 90+% of the time. Here's what I do today --- Bigger clones root easier so I take larger clones and put them into large Jiffy pellets. Keeping the moisture level proper is the single most important factor in cloning and Jiffy pellets are easier to "read" than rockwool. After engorging the pellets I put them into solo cups that hold the pellet snugly. I have a heat mat under my dome and I keep both dome vents closed all the way. You should keep water in the dome 24/7 and you should see condensation on the hood every time you check. I use a spray bottle to mist the clones 3-4 times a day with emphasis on keeping the crown wet. I check them daily after 7 days to look for roots. After roots appear I give them another day or 2 to let the roots get bigger. I TP the pellet into a 3-quart pot until the cutting is about 12 inches. Then it goes into a final pot of 6-7 quarts. Works 4 me, BigSteve.

i have a 25 site cloner machine (complete ready to use) i got online for 74.00 shipped. ran my 1st batch last week. excellent results. 2+" of roots on the 8 i ran. dip the cutting in clone solution (technaflora) for 15 seconds, place in foam collar and net pot w/bottome cut off. then stick into cloner on 2-4' t8 6500k 24/7. added regent a root 5ml and 5ml of h202, and changed water every 3rd day. also ran a water heater as i grow in my basement and its cool down there.

This is exactly the way I do it too and I've had nearly 100% success with it.

Another tip from me is to spray the dome NOT the plants.

This forces your clone to extract the moisture from the air rather than from it just sitting on its leaves.

Are the vents in your dome closed all the way? It can take 10-14 days for roots to show for me
I always leave the vents OPEN....... shud they be open or closed?

Yes. I let the Jiffy Pellets soak up water from underneath and ONLY mist the dome not the cuttings.........

I. Have. Patience. Issues. (obviously) LOL

vents should be closed to produce more humidity. i have a stragler seedling that is 2 weeks growth behind the other 4. i know its sad. i put a large mc donalds milk shake clear plastic cup on top to creat a humidome. mist inside cup 3x daily.

and patience is a virtue when it comes to growing mj. patience is also something that i do NOT have. i have maby 2%. its hard just sit back and expect 2" growth daily, which i expected. now, i check on them 3x daily. just a quick peak at my rh and temps and see if any leaf issues, then zip the tent back up and walk away.

I use jiffy pellets also and have found out that if they are too wet, it takes longer to root. They should be moist
not wet.
