Any1 used a budget filter? Isit any good? Should i just fork out an extra £30-40 fora Rhyno Pro? The budget lasts 8-10 months like others, just need to know its going to remove the smell, 100% :)

Do not skimp. I have tried both. The whimpy 1 1/2 to 2" thick ones and the Can filters. Bottom line : The thicker and heavier the charcoal chamber is and how well packed it is, the better and more cfm you can push through. Phish, Can and others work well! These budget ones with 1" chamber suck and don't even last a grow IME. If the odor could result in you getting busted (if your grow is illegal) is it really worth skimping? You could also supplement outside the grow with ozone generators

I used to use a PRIMA KLIMA filter.

It surpassed 9 months usage. I think it was £35.

However now I'm using a CANLITE 6" and its just hit 13months of use and still has zero smell.

The trick with filters is to get a filter rated for a higher m3/h than the fan you are using.

My fan is rated at 480m3/h and my filter is 600m3/h.

lol they actually call them that round here, cheap euro filters, remove everything but smell lol, you would go through 5 in the time you went through one rhino pro and nearly no smell, well depending on strain,

i never vent directly outside i vent from room to room, this makes it very easy for me to tell when filters need changing i can smell the outlet directly
i have budget and the more expensive filters
very little difference to be honest , just make sure you get the right size to cope with your fan
they last well over 1 year,

remember the filter is there to remove the smell from the air that is removed from the grow space, as most folk extract outside and do not wish neighbors to smell plants

some people make the mistake and think the filter is there to remove the smell from the room itself , unless you have the plants in a small sealed tent this is very unlikely, the filter is irrelevant to the smell left in the grow space other than how much the filter reduces the fans extraction, this is dependent on fan power, the faster you remove the air and replace it with clean air, the less you will smell in the space

to remove the smell from the room itself requires much larger fans to remove the air as quick as possible if you do not remove all the air in the space in less than 1 minute you will still smell it but this does not mean anyone else can smell it, as long as you control the air flow and create negative pressure so air only comes into the space and does not leak out, you will be fine
ozone works well to remove any left over smell in the grow area, but needs to be used correctly with caution

peace

Saafe :) I'd b spliting a room with a temp ply wood wall & sealent around the sides :) So i'd be extracting into a bedroom :) Say the grow room is 2.4m (W) x 1.2m (L) 2.4m (H) 1x 4" hole in the temp wall with the fan & filter, then a 4" hole on the other side of the room to let air in :) Would a 270m3 b a strong enuff fan?

dont ever buy cheap for carbon filters. last thing you need is in the middle of a stink fest to have that thing fail on you.

good idea always better to keep your extracted air inside if you can
extracting outside puts some fan noise outside and potential smell, if you cant smell the outlet of your filter how do you know its working

if you are creating a temp wooden room inside your bedroom, you still want a source of fresh air coming in somewhere in the house
you want the air being pulled into you plants coming from a room with a window that can be left slightly open

after a few hours the bedroom will get warm and you will be re-circulating the warm air back to the plants this will not work if you use more than 1-2 400w lights
anymore than that and you will cook the plants , you have to make sure the hot extracted air does not get sucked back into your plants

270m3 is ok for 1-2 400w or 1 600w light,
get the best fan you can, it is perhaps the most important thing apart from the lights

a 6inch is 420m3 that would be better
where will the air that's sucked into the room be coming from ?
