Feroce's Coco/Hempy Perpetual Grow #2

Finally got around to taking a few pics last night, was gonna post them then but things got a little fuzzy around the edges and I fell asleep...

Ahem. Anyway, the three plants due for harvest are on the left side of the tent, one Selene and two Sugar Punch clones. Put another SP plant into mini-scrog and flipped her...

Selene @ 69 days and ready for harvest as soon as the coco dries out.

Sugar Punch, likewise ready for harvest.

Sannies Jack in mini-scrog, going to let her go from this point since I see bud sites starting to form and she's pretty well covered the screen.

Just got done chopping down my yard, after 2.5 weeks of rain it was starting to resemble a jungle more than a yard...clouds of gnats coming up from the grass, and fairly soon I had an escort of a half-dozen dragonflies around me snapping up the gnats:)

Y'all are gonna have to excuse me, I have about a kilo of London Broil sitting in a chili-garlic-lime marinade, and it's about time to go hot up the grill:mrgreen:

Did some harvesting last night, got very sticky indeed...took down the Selene clone and four Sugar Punch clones, with two SP clones needing another week.

DSC_0001.jpg

Got a little work to do in the garden today, couple of plants need up-potting, etc.

Oh yeah, the obligatory bud porn...not a very good shot, I'll admit. More later, if enough brain cells bang together and I remember to.

Thanks, it's always nice to get an ego stroke;-)

I hope no one comes knocking on my door, because my house reeks of drying Sugar Punch...keeping a big bottle of Febreze by the door just in case.

All but one of the spring crop has been harvested, and it will be very soon...most of the next run is already in the tent, just waiting on the Jack clones now.

So, this is my first attempt at a scrog...frankly I'm surprised at how fast this Jack girl is flowering, I flipped her May 15 and she already has bud sites forming:o

Since my summer run is mostly on it's way...it's time to plan the next run:)

I have a dozen beans I made from a cherry-flavored super frosty female El Monstre and an especially vigorous and smelly male EM. El Monstre is Jackberry x Blue Kronic, BTW...Anyway, I'm thinking of popping all of them, go 12/12 from seed, and open pollinate the whole lot of them. Then I can pheno hunt to my hearts content...and have enough to pass around, as well.

Might be interesting to have a Selene clone in the tent at the same time...

I really like the way you use your space to experiment with growing. I think you'll learn alot from that scrog.

I don't know how much space you have for breeding experiments, but I've found when working in a limited space that it's best to take a clone from all the seed pops. And grow out the crosses to see which ones are the ones to work with. This includes males. Throw out the seeds that pop male, but take a close look at their shape, growth pattern, color etc. and record before removing. You can see similar traits in the males you remove and the females that are winners. Now you have clones of all the contestants and can breed towards a certain direction. The total random method will lead to insane amounts of seed popping and clone taking to finally find the winner.

Thanks, Wattsaver. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, but a HDD going up in smoke will do that...total loss, unrecoverable...bugger.

I hear you on selecting for the best plants, but...limited space and tight time constraints work against me. I'm now thinking of running them 12/12 from start as before, but selecting one male to hit all the females. I'll grow the seeded girls all the way out, then select the best of the females to harvest beans from and trash the rest.

I would then have to get a production run or two finished before I would be able to test the results...I still have some time to think about it.

Meanwhile, all of the first run girls are harvested and curing, ended up with a 1 gallon jar of Selene and 3 one gallon jars of Sugar Punch...I feel a whole lot better now, knowing I'm set for stash for a while:)

I'll try to get some pics up later...

It can be hard to admit to a screw-up...but the Jack plant I selected to be a mom turned out to be male:cuss:

Coulda sworn it was a girl, but there ya go...anyway, he and his clone are gone, leaving me with six plants in the tent and two moms, Sugar Punch and Selene. Now that I have the extra room, I decided to get started on selecting El Monstre parents...popped four of them, two have broken through the surface as of this morning.

Anyway, this is how the tent looks as of last night. Selene on the left, Sugar Punch on the right, and the Jack girl (that I didn't clone, doh!) in the center. Three more SP clones along the back wall, just hitting the screen now.

DSC_0004.jpg

This Jack girl quit stretching a lot earlier than I thought she would, I'm kinda worried about buds growing around the screen...I may have to get busy with some scissors, worried about bud rot.

DSC_0007.jpg

I decided to let the Sugar Punch and Selene plants go a little earlier this time, I want the buds above the screen, not in it...this is the Sugar Punch girl.

DSC_0005.jpg

And the Selene.

DSC_0006.jpg

Happiness is a comfortably full stash:mrgreen:

Smoke report coming on the Selene in the next few days, top jar in the pic above.

That Selene looks ready to blow! :leaf:
Yep, all those growing tips gonna turn into massive purple buds in a few weeks, and after smoking some of the first batch, I'm kicking myself for not popping them earlier...

Subbed... Nice work... I like hempy but to scared to jump across from soil..
Try running one hempy bucket the next cycle, along with your soil plants. Get familiar with the hempys before you switch over completely...and you will:mrgreen:

Did a little trim work on the Jack girl, but she's so intergrown into the screen that it's a hopeless task...ah well, I learned something anyway. Also pulled some of the taller growing tips on the Sugar Punch down to even out the canopy.

Still waiting on two of the El Monstre babies to break surface...

Well, I lost all of the seedlings...the last bag of coco I bought is infested with the Gnats...shit. Now I gotta go through the whole process of getting rid of them again...it's always something.

So, decided to finish growing this current batch out, then sterilize and bugbomb the room...meanwhile, I need to find a way to keep this crap from happening again.

Anyways, the plants in the tent are doing well, a few pics...

DSC_0001.jpg

The Selene girl with buds starting to form, looks like I got this one right.

DSC_0002.jpg

The Sugar Punch girl...I think I quit bending her a little early. Next time I'll give it a little longer.

DSC_0003.jpg

A couple of shots of the Jack girl, I definitely bent her too long...she's at 33 days now.

DSC_0004.jpg

These are some Sugar Punch clones, I decided not to scrog them as I flipped them a bit early for that...these ring type supports might be better than stakes, worth a try at least.

I'm getting a little weary of dealing with the main problem of coco fiber....that salty and/or gnat infested bags of fiber are always a possibility. I'm considering trying a grow in straight Growstones as a medium in the hempy buckets...might have to adjust the nute regime some, but that's not a big deal.

Looking Very Nice Sir
dude love your coco hempys!!

Thanks guys, glad you like the show:)

Not much else going on, just a-waitin' till the crop comes in...:leaf:

...and wishing summer would actually arrive. Rainy, windy, and on the cold side of cool all day today, with more on the way. Bleh.

And the Selene scrog...

A close-up of one of the Selene buds...you might not be able to see it yet, but she's already starting to go purple.

View attachment 2713910

The three SP girls I let go vertical...kinda glad I did, there's no way I'm gonna fit nine plants like the SP and Selene scrogs in there.

After I finished shooting these pics, I went to the kitchen for a drink, looked out the window and saw this guy mooching around in my back yard. Grabbed the camera, went outside and practiced my stalking ability...
