"to see what permits are available" does this mean that if you say "I wish to own a Colt 1911-model autoloader" they can say "no permit is available"? I'm not sure I get it. cn
sorry should've said what permit suits what you want to do. You also have to show a valid reason (outlined below) as "personal protection" is not considered a valid reason here.

The chosen reason will dictate what type and calibre of firearm you are allowed.

Sport / Target Shooting
Recreational Hunting / Vermin Control
Primary Production
Vertebrate Pest Animal Control
Business or Employment
Rural Occupation
Animal Welfare
Firearms Collection

You go do a safety course at a shooters club, they issue you with a certificate of competency which you then take to the police and apply for a licence (licence is issued by our equivalent of the DMV) but the police do all the identity verification and background check formalities. if you check out you're issued with a licence, the firearms you're allowed to own are limited to the "genuine reason you need them" Once you get your licence, you must submit a "permit to acquire" for each firearm you intend to buy/own then down to a dealer to purchase the weapon.

How do you know? Can you really tell us anything, without any evidence?
Well as its an online poll rather than a randomized on then it's self selecting (apathy need not bother)

With that in mind we can look to American gun sites + neo Nazi and right wing sites to see threads asking americans to get in on voting

Greetings from across the pond.

I would just like to say That over the past few months there has been a ever increasing sign within the UK that shows the people seem to be waking up and wanting their guns back. As you may know handguns here were banned in 1997 and since that time the crime levels have risen most recently the London beheading in the street.

Media coverage is scarce regarding guns and gun rights but at the moment there is a poll on the telegraph website about what bills people would like to see in parliament, currently the bill to repeal the handgun ban is winning. I am here to ask any fellow gun lovers to please help your cousins out from across the pond and take a moment of your time to vote for the repeal of the handgun ban.

The poll is only a day old but has already seen a good number backing the bill and we urgently need to show the UK MP's that this bill needs attention.

The link to the poll is here:

thank you for your time.

this device is a bit cumbersome for this but if you search sites like storefront you'll find similar threads

Interesting. A call it in poll from all over the world.....very good, Warrior. Yes, we think the Brits should get their guns back....but so what, if they don't?

Funny.

No, man, worse than that.

Not a target shooter?
Larger than 9mm?

No permit.

And the childern may think what they want but that was an involuntary, confiscation of handguns that happened in Oz simple because they have no Constitution.

You may not own these weapons, and we are not taking about the illegal guns.
A high calibre permit will see you through .38 to .45, but again are you implying a weapon will inherently ensure your safety? As you and firearms always seems to amount to a bunch of dick waiving, I would have to guess the owning of a firearm in your eyes is somehow a measure of a man....

Oh and we have a constitution it just a load of crap but hey, yours only amounts to a guide, executive privilege trumps the constitution in most cases if it's even a consideration...

Well to be fair, the Aussies I know, bikers, don't feel they need a gun for self defense. It is just reflected in the rape and home invasion stats, I think. A bit more than the US. It's the same for all commonwealth citizens. Murder is about the same, but no handgun murder to speak of.

Dirty little things like home torture are up in commonwealth. You know? When they can just take their time? And rape everyone, including the dog and then leave you all alive.

12,000 actual handgun murders in the USA. And yet, the drunk drivers kill more than that. Over a million reported incidents where it never got to home torture. The handy smoke wagon, not even fired.

You've claimed this at least twice and you've been undeniably WRONG on both occasions. Home torture? WTF are you talking about... Our murder, rape and home invasion stats even via a per capita % are lower than yours. try again.

Very well then. I am not amused when a sport/target comes into my house. cn
