Very interesting Frenchy, thanks for your input. I am very new to trichome extraction and was having the exact issue as you state with your black label. I am working with Space Bomb, (2 phenos), and I noticed that it was basically impossible to break the hash patty into a fine-grained consistency due to the stickiness/cohesiveness of the trichomes right after collecting them out of my bubble bags. So I basically did what you said you haven't been doing, and froze my patty and then broke it up into smaller pieces for drying (Half-ass Matt Rize technique, no microplane, just crumbled with knife). Then just dried the glands like that, and definitely noticed the oxidation within about a day. Since you are not breaking the black label up, and just doing a slow dry of the patty, I was wondering what the average temperature and humidity conditions you have in your drying area. Then I could approximate how long to dry my next patty with this method, instead of freezing and breaking. Thanks again for answering questions, and I do see a slight water sheen to the exposed/non oxidized black label, especially the bottom of the Pyrex dish shot, but it could perhaps be lighting or glare I guess too.The Black Label was not chopped into small even pieces to dry for the simple reason that it was too "goo". What you see is how the trichomes came out of the bag on the knife, already a mass of resin super sticky. I would have had to freeze it to be able to chop it fine and I am not ready to do it before studying the process of freezing on trichomes. I prefer fresh food to frozen and I am applying that to my smoke until proven wrong. I will study more in depth drying in colder and darker conditions, like a walk in fridge. I am of the school of thought that slow is good, like slow cooking to give just one example.
then it is !It is really apparent to my eyes
It is truly a treat to work with such material. I did mention earlier an important fact: THOSE TRIMS (actually it was buds) WERE DRY AND CURED, it is quite amazing to have such a trichomes structure with dried and cured material. You usually got such a mass of resin (as opposed to loose trichomes) in a bag with fresh trims, and only from good growers with good genetics.Completely and utterly filled with elation with each pic of the Black Label that gets posted. Drooling is now an understatement. When looking at the pictures it conjures up the familiar sensation of watching a woman slowly undress before me- the anticipation, the palpitations in my heart are screaming for the finished product. The black label out of all my strains is MY BABY, to see it expressed in such an artform is a breeders blessing. Damn glad to have you apart of the family Frenchy, DAMN GLAD.
I had this problem Frenchy,I am far from working in perfect conditions, also as I mentioned earlier, I never ever check anything since I can trust my senses and experience. Hopefully I will soon work in perfect conditions and will take all the steps necessary to give you what you need.
Thankyou i passed on the info. He has takin all his plants down and did a major cleaning job.You have to be careful but YES you can get a clean product, double/triple rinse your trichomes and you'll be hundred % safe.
Check a product called "Dyna-mite" for your Dad's mites, pretty amazing organic spray. I tested it for 6 harvest and helped the promotion. Check HydroAm or get back to me I have a stock
Life changing experience, I am re-learning what I know through teaching if you see what I mean. I never thought that I could teach, I was/am a very bad French teacher, not much patience.I had this problem Frenchy,
I did everything my instinct once people asked me how I did things I had to start paying attention and making notes
Sub
I cannot find it anymore either, it looks like AmHydro is not distributing the product anymore. They have a site dyna-mitedotnet but the prices are not fair to tell the truth. I have had no contact with Dyna-mite for a long time (since a little after getting a write up in High Times for them) but they left me with a stock in my store room and no news for over a year so that this stock is technically mine and I sale half price to Weed Nerd. Please check the site to see details on product.Thankyou i passed on the info. He has takin all his plants down and did a major cleaning job.
Im having a hard time finding it online can you post a link please?
I seen you say it works on pm also im having a issue with that so im gonna give it a try
Possible but again you would have very little control not only when you press but also the bigger the surface the harder to spread the heat wellFrenchy could two heated slabs of marble be used to press and heat the hashish in the same maner as the hot water bottel?
