I'm looking for an inexpensive fan & carbon filter combo. I need the fan the most right now hopefully for around $50. For the record, I do not want a Can, Phresh, or other expensive fans or filters, so please do not mention them. I'm looking for a less costly alternative if one exist, so if you are using one that works for you, then please recommend it.

make your own filter...that's a cheaper alternative. You can check youtube for a DIY can filter.

For what you want to spend ill suggest a small aquarium air pump blowing through a submersible activated carbon filter. Don't forget the white filter floss or you could always wrap it in some toilet paper.

Home depot has 6" duct fans for $40, and you can DIY a carbon filter for <$20.

"DIY carbon filter" in the search bar will find you plenty of options.

DON'T cheap out on scent removal...
I knew that was coming sooner or later. I don't believe I need to spend $300 or so on a brand name fan and filter to have one that's successfully get the job done.

That sounds like a good, but I do not think that will be big enough to do the job.

Thanks.. That's about how much I wanted to spend. I'm going to check that out today.

I was being sarcastic.lol
LOL I really didn't give to much though to your comment... I knew whatever you were talking about wasn't what I was looking for, so I was being dismissive but polite...

DO NOT SKIMP ON HYDROPONICS. YOU WILL FAIL, sorry to say sir, but to get a result in this business you must put out, skimping with just give you the result you paid for scrap.

Again... not buying the most expensive and/or popular brand named item isn't "skimping." There are many hoods, ballast, tents, pots, fans, carbon filters, ect that will get the job down without it having to be a top dollar name attached. This is my second time saying this.

But why not buy the better item for that little bit more, when you will get more then what you pay for in return. I really cant understand how people don't get this logic. extra 200 dollar on a digital ballast a extra 600 dollar in yield its how it works unfortunately.

I'm talking about a fan and carbon filter, but even it I was talking about a ballast, are you saying that if someone purchased a 600 ipower ballast for $100 instead of purchasing a more expensive brand like Lumatek, Phantom Ballasts, Solis-Tek, etc for 2x-3x as much, that somehow their yield would decrease? Yea the more expensive brands may have more bells and whistle, but they both would get the job done.

I was referring to the difference between a $150 dollar magnetic ballast and a $350 dollar Digital and yes your yield would improve with the digital? the job done maybe yes. but not the yield you could get, which defeats the purpose of skimping, buy that 100 dollar ballast get 200 back for it buy the 350 dollar ballast get 700 back for it. sorry sir but that's how it works. and I have the stats to prove it. on almost any hydro item.

which proves your theory wrong.....
LOL so the same 1000w bulb will put out less light in a 1000w magnetic ballast than a digital one? Anyway, I'm talking about buying the same type of product/technology, but from a less expensive company. I wanted to know if anyone could suggest something that works good for them and hasn't given them any problems. You're going off into left field by comparing to different technologies... Which proves your theory flawed... Either way, the thread's about me wanting a carbon filter and a fan that's a "less costly alternative" to the more expensive brands.

well seeing a magnetic ballast can only draw 70% lumens from a bulb. a digital ballast draws 100% of the lumens available hence bigger yield. if a item is better its better, yes you can go cheap, but your yield will suffer,

Dude, I'm not buying a ballast so why are you talking a hole in my head over it? Again, my situation would be expensive digital ballast vs inexpensive digital ballast.... You're comparing two technologies which is something completely different. I'm saying I want a reliable car and rather buy the cheaper Honda Civic instead of the expensive BMW, and you're talking about me buying a BMW because I'd get better milage and performance than if I bought a scooter...

I'm not tryin to be rude, but I've already spent 1000s altogether within 3 months time... Three months ago I didn't have shit. I even just spent $100 more this week on more nutes and a set of 8 T5HO bloom bulbs. I already have 2 digital ballast and 2 T5HOs. I do not want to put much more money into this at this time, so I want something that works, but isn't as expensive. I made that clear and I made it clear that I personally do not believe that it's impossible to accomplish my goals on a budget. I do not know why people feel the need to repeatedly tell me the same thing over and over again. I do understand that if it's my money and I've been 100% clear in saying what I want to spend it on, why people feel the need to argue with me.
