Thank you all, being able to meet some of you and grow with some of you has been a real great experience and it's not over. Were going to do more. I just can't right now because I have a friend moving in a growing is a no-no for about a year. I'm not going anywhere though, I'll be seed hunting and getting ready for my 2014 grow!

I have experience on this issue. We attempted the treatment with my mom, she had very advanced stage 4 cancer which had spread to her brain, abdomen, kidneys and lungs. The origin of the cancer was assumed to be small cell lung, this is the worst case scenario, unfortunately she did not survive. She was diagnosed in September 2012 and lived to February 2013.

She had been going to the doctor for regular check ups and she had been diagnosed with diabetes. They thought diabetes was her only problem, as she had been light headed and her stomach was growing (because of the abdominal tumor).

Anyways, in August right before her diagnosis she had begun to slur her speech and lose balance, so they did an MRI and found the brain tumors (over 70 lesions). She began to have serious mental issues, especially short term memory loss and slurring. They wanted to start her on brain radiation right away within about a week of diagnosis. During her radiation, which was 10 days long, her mental issues were severe and she was unable to communicate at all. However, once she recovered from the treatment, she was back to herself mentally. I could talk with her and she was herself again, it was wonderful. The long term effects of the radiation could have been bad, but I am thankful that she was given those last few months to bond with her family. I am happy that she took the radiation treatment in her situation.

She began chemotherapy within a couple weeks of finishing radiation, her stomach tumor had been growing at a fast rate, and it was pushing against one of her kidneys and causing blockages. She began having serious issues eating, because of both the pressure on her kidneys and stomach with a combination of the radiation.

This is when I began using the oil. I purchased 99.7% isopropyl alcohol from Grainger Industrial supply. I called and they ordered it, it was available the next day for $25/gal, I got one gallon. I prepared a half pound of buds(not leaves) and fired up the rice cooker. I mixed the alcohol with the buds in a bucket and broke apart the buds with the end of a board while stirring the bucket for about 10 minutes. I then strained the mixture through a micron bag and dumped the oil into a rice cooker. The rice cooker automatically cooks the alcohol at a safe and effective temp, I think 180F. The alcohol will lightly boil off, keep adding the rest of the alcohol mixture as the level drops in the rice cooker. The alcohol will eventually boil off completely and the rice cooker will automatically shut off and you are left with almost pure oil. I then dumped the hot oil into a small 1 egg mini pan, and placed that pan on the coffee machine warmer. The oil will have tiny bubbles which is residual of the alcohol. Pop these bubbles with a small needle until the oil no longer bubbles at all. Then voila, you have a pure hash oil solvent free.
I bought one of those needle-less syringes from some pharmacy (used for baby formula I think) and filled the syringe with the oil. This is the most effective way to store the oil so you don't waste any. I had made about 14 grams of pure THC oil. I then visually measured about the amount of half a grain of rice. I didn't have the scales able to measure this small of an amount. I made up 7 capsules and set them out for the week in her daily pill box.

The most important thing that you can do, is show a cancer patient information about the oil and its effectiveness. You absolutely have to have them 100% on board with the treatment. I showed her the studies of the phase 2 tests on animals, particularly the one from Harvard. I also showed her success stories and there are lots of good documentaries out there. We watched "running from the cure" and some others that were more scientific based. Its important not to overwhelm them with this info, so they aren't feeling pressured into doing something they aren't convinced could work. Never get angry with the person obviously, it is their choice.

Anyways, before she began taking the oil, she was getting very restless because she was having bladder problems because of the tumor. She was unable to sleep and was back and forth to the bathroom all night constantly. We had tried Ativan, but it just made her loopy. The first night she started taking the pills she was able to sleep the entire night. This continued until the dosage would wear off and I continually doubled the dosage each time. Rick Simpson advises at least 2 dosages a day, but she just wanted take the night dosage so that she would be awake during the day. She still smoked the herb as well, and showed great improvements in mood.

This lasted about 6 weeks, I was almost up to a half gram a day. She began to refuse to take a lot of her meds, including the hemp oil. I am not sure the cause of this, I think it was a combination of increasing stomach pains, the returning of brain tumors, and rebellion. The oil intake began to be an occasional thing, basically whenever i could convince her. I didn't want to be nuisance but I urged her to take it as much as I felt I should at the time.

She began to worsen in December and all of her tumors were continuing to grow. They continued the chemo as they felt it was slowing down the growth of the abdominal tumor, but it continued to grow until she could hardly eat or drink anything. In early February they discontinued treatments and she stopped eating and drinking completely about a week after. She went into a coma and passed about 4 days later.

I wrote this long ass story to help others dealing with this. Hemp oil is by no means an easy cure, I believe it takes lots of dedication from the family and the patient and doesn't effectively rid the body of cancer in all cases. This is a very difficult disease with brutal treatments available. The most important lessons I hope someone takes away is:

1) get as informed as you can, it will help you make your case to the patient.
2) Don't be a know-it-all dickhead about it. The fact is you don't know what treatment could cure their cancer. You can read phase 2 animal studies that have shown evidence of THC ridding the body of tumors, you can show many success stories of people advocating for the THC cure. But you have to remember that every case is different. In my opinion you shouldn't discourage people from seeking mainstream treatment, as you are likely not informed enough (im not) to make such a life decision for somebody. I am glad my mom went through the radiation in her case, because it saved her mentally for a while. I am not sure about the effectiveness of the chemo, I dont know how much time it bought or cost her, if any. Believe it or not, the doctors actually are more knowledgeable on the issue than you are.
3) Do your research into the RSO. You can buy it at dispensaries, I would encourage you to do so until you can make your own batch. I think it is very important that you make your own batch as soon as possible. I don't trust people to make this oil for you, because it is not cost effective to sell if you use pure buds. People will make this oil with leaves and it wont be as strong as it needs to be. You can also send your oil into a lab to get it tested for THC and CBD content, you want a high CBD content for the anti tumor effects. The THC, I believe, is good for mood.
4) Sometimes, when all else fails, you just have to let go. It is not worth spending any last moments with your loved ones fighting and bickering, you will regret it. If you nag at them too much about eating, taking their meds, etc... it makes them feel like they are letting you down. Sometimes you have to realize that it is out of your control, and you have to just let go and spend as much time with them as you can before they are gone.

Thanks for reading my book.

lifegoesonbrah,

That literally brought a tear to my eye reading that. That had to be real tough to go through.

As I'm getting older I find myself thinking more and more about death. I don't believe in heaven or a god so for me death is final, and as a result I don't deal well with it. I am dreading the day that I have to put my folks in the ground, and I really hope that they do not suffer with an awful disease like cancer.

I admire both your commitment to helping your mother, and your compassion in realizing that you wanted to make her last days on the planet good and not force her to do things that she didn't want to do.

Best wishes to you. I hope you move beyond this and carry with you only good memories of your mother....
