I hope I can upload the pictures... my lady is in a dwc bubble system she was just 2and1/2 inches when the light was changed is been 31 days into flower she is now 26 inches and touches all four wals in the box which is 30x30 so she's a nice round bush... I have an. Incredible amount of inner and lower growth... she is under a 400w hps mh I switch back and fourth between the 2spectrums. I'm sure there are many opinions but I don't want to put any undue stress on her. How much can be trimmed without stress? First picture is day after first 12/12 and the next is day 30. Just looking for any experienced input or tips.... thanks130513_0000.jpg130608_0002.jpg130613_0001.jpg

I have a large bushy plant growing that had a lot of healthy undergrowth and lower leaves, and I recently lollipopped just the bottom branches - cut off the leaves and small branches - and noticed a pronounced growth in the upper leaves afterwards. The lower branches will make small popcorn buds that are not as desirable as the large colas, so if you trim away the lower branches and some of the leaves it will put the energy in to growing the upper branches instead. I know that it is hard to trim away healthy leaves and branches, but it is in the best interest of a heavier yield

you can see pics here: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/647080-random-bag-seed-test-out.html

When it comes to stress relative to defoliation I will never strip it down. Instead I take off leaves everyday starting from the bottom, slow and steady....without any significant stress. If bugs are present and eradication is on the agenda I might strip off more to avoid the stress that pest bring to me and the plant. I see no reason in your case except maybe to get less popcorn. I would do a 2 stage harvest. top1/2....lower light.....wait a week.....bottom half to avoid that. I think leaves left alone produce bigger healthier plants.

This question can be answered with a yes, and a no. Here's why. If you are growing in a small area, I would say YES it will increase your yield. It allows more plants to be crowded into a smaller area, with regard to airflow and such, and produces nice colas. If the question is simply will it make a single plant yield more, I would say NO. But if you like big nuggs to smoke, then lollipop them girls, and forget the small popcorn. I like big buds personally, and I think the cola will be a bit fatter with lollipops. IMO.

Thanks for the replies I don't think I want to take off the lower branches because they all reach out to the canopy, but maybe the shoots coming off the inside of the lower branches? I did super crop like crazy too. I'm just afraid of stressing her out too much.

I think people exaggerate how sensitive plants are to stress most of the time. I supercrop, bend, top, and take off branches just not all at once. Use your intuition and feel what is stressful, reading a plant is the endgame to sucess here. Less is more. Your plants can handle it but do they need to? Is it going to make a difference positively?
