I agree. Raw meat gets its own disposable bag every time.

I don't like reusing a bag that was previously holding raw, unfrozen, chicken. Just seems a bit unsanitary.

lol really though it will be gone shortly, as i said we did the ban last year, it lasted a few months. its too big of an inconvenience to stock plastic bags for the stores that are designed with the bags on a wheel that spins, like some wallmarts..also for the bagger to fit these cloth bags on the counter to store different items in each and still keep the plastic bgs storage free to use them. from all standpoints its not a good idea and doesnt work, besides the fact that they were deemed a health risk they cost too much time and money for the stores.....

Are you seriously suggesting that the paper bags I'd have to use now are better for the environment? Not only is that "making lampshades" of trees that were planted where there once were forests ... but the pulp industry is famously filthy. i always get the paper bags and reuse them later on when trimming.

cut them in half down the center and they are great for catching trimmings, the other half is great for holding trimmed buds until you get around to hanging them.

they also make great tinder for starting the burn pile in spring or camp fires in the summer.

and let's not forget how cats love to sit inside them and fight over them.

I know for a fact some of you that are saying it is unsanitary to use cloth bags are smarter than that. Do you not do any laundry? You can easily mark a bag as meat only. Put it in with the kitchen laundry and keep it clean. This isn't rocket surgery.

You can also use the plastic bags provided at the meat section and bag the meat in a bag that is clean. It still uses a plastic bag, but not as many in the long run. I do this anyway due to cross contamination.

I think some of you are just arguing to be an ass.

where i shop, they have little tiny plastic bags at the checkout for meat products. they are too small to be reused as a dog poop picker upper for me, but for anyone else with a normal sized dog they will work just fine.

oh, and the paper bags are from recycled paper.

That's pretty lame they don't provide a safe way to package meat in the meat department.

I'm not sure how I feel about paper bags. The more they use recycled paper the more I am prone to use them.

I'm not going to leave a salmonella-soaked bag sitting in my laundry hamper for a week while I get enough other shit together to wash. Not to mention the fact that plastic, unlike fabric, is known for holding moisture in. I'd rather just throw the plastic bag that was holding the meat in the trash. Every meat section I've ever been to had those shitty thin rolls of bags that tear and leak if you look at them funny. If they stocked better bags, I'd have no need for plastic shopping bags in other areas really. I use paper otherwise. This house is heated with wood, so we save a great big bundle of bags for winter. Either way though, a ban on plastic bags is stupid. There are perfectly valid uses for them.

If you are afraid of some possible Salmonella in your laundry than you better not think of the far worse germs in your whites while they sit there until laundry day.

Seriously, how hard is it to keep clean reusable bags around? I wish humans cared more and plastic wasn't an issue. It is because people are lazy and don't care we have plastic bags blowing around all over the city and stupid regulations are put in place to try and prevent stupid.
