I remember the big quake storm of '61
I think that is a key stroke miss... The big quake of 1971... the day after my birthday... I woke with my mom yelling:

"We're having an Earthquake...we're having an earthquake...."

No shit mom...I feel it...

see that's the illusion folks get thinking the moon is actually closer (ok this particular time it was.. but it's not like it moved 30k miles in one night. it was just fuller then the night before. )

anytime there is something off in the horizon the moon will look larger then it actually is.. moon perception illusion I think.. shit I watch way too many documentaries..

I'm not under any illusions, it was it's biggest and brightest before it was in the sky, on the horizon. I never claimed that it was closer :D

in 2007 there was a small earthquake in coalinga ca I was inside on the 2nd floor of a 4 story court building.. when it swayed just enough to make me never want to go near anything larger then a 1 story..

about 6 month's ago I was watching these earthquake doc's on H2 and nat geo and even terrified myself some more..

then about 4 months' ago I am at my buddies house sitting out front and the chair I am in sways just like the building did.. coarse I immediately stand up and ask my buddy if he felt that quake? He lol's and says no.. anyway I argue with him saying I swear I felt one.. checking my cell online and all.. anyhow I finally sit back down and it happened again..

turns out he has these rocker chairs that dont rock unless your sitting back in them.. I hate that chair now..

Similar here, never heard of it, truly an area I know next to nothing about. Hubby walks in from outside and said you should really see this moon it's spectacular. In my sweetest voice I replied, "I've seen a full moon, before, haven't you?" I really need to get these memos so I can stop making such a fool of myself!
For some reason my browser would not let me post a response earlier before all this Mexican wine that has softened my ordinary iron grip on English syntax. Anyhoo ... I'd never heard of a "supermoon" either, but the full moon of Dec 22, 1999 was special for being a perigee moon on the Winter Solstice, which put it as high in the sky as we can have. I paid attention to the brightness it painted on Bay Area frost.
A similar confluence of events took place on 1866 Dec 21, on which night the Lakota Sioux used the exceptional lighting to stage a very successful ambush on US soldiers in Wyoming Territory. Call it ... Indian Winter. ;) cn

See my problem is believing the documentaries. With all this artistic license stuff I wonder how factually based they are. So then I turn to books and trying to find primary sources can be tough! Really tough in certain areas. I'll be glad when everything is online. But very sad when they lock it all away and charge for it... as they have a tendency to do.

You don't have a public library?

Yes but the problem is it's in the Los Angeles public library system. Also when you are searching for arcane primary sources it can be tough and require specialized library archive access. The type of stuff you only get if you are a graduate student or professional in the field. So yeah I'm waiting for it all to be digitized... prolly not in my lifetime LOL

Unfortunate. Knowledge is one of the things I believe should be there for the taking. Anyone who wants to learn, actively wants to learn, should never be barred by financial or social circumstances. But I also think cannabis should be treated like a garden vegetable, so take it for what you will.

I know that in my chosen field, all the good stuff is behind well-fortified "show your papers, then pay up" barriers. cn
