Quickest way to sex/pheno new seeds.

I would just like to know which ways are the best and quickest.

one is cloning one branch of each seed and flowering it immediately...

but it seems faster to just put a sock over a branch... But does that stress? Or is it minimal and works well?

What do the experienced people do? Please tell.

buy femz ;-)

buy early flowering varieties which would show sex early.

i let them be. dont top them either imo.

i usually can tell in veg. I've cut down quite a few without letting them get 12/12 cause I'm confident they are males. not every spot is gonna have a sex organ but if you really hunt you can usually find 1 or 2 somewhere on em.

and a male and female organ look VERY similar at this age i can usually just tell when they throw the hairs for female, like super small hairs gotta look at it 100 times and get your Chi eye zoom going. male organs will look like fems but will start growing more then one organ there. and the bananas usually come pretty early I've just gotten really good at spotting em.

now mind you i still gotta throw about every third one in flower before i can tell for sure. if there is even a little bit of a question i put em in flower and let them really show ya whats up.

Males can give you pollen in the veg room, you technically don't have to bloom them out so they will give you pre flowers at some point near the stem. and fems well they give you pre flowers too, the ones with the hairs! those are the ones you want :wink:

Back to the topic stoners,

At a certain height, MOST, strains will preflower. 6 or 8th node strain specific. This does not mean u start counting flowering days.

Considering the time it takes to get a branch cloneable and clo ed and flowered, that plant will have exhibited preflowers. Just b patient.

I kno how to sex plants... I was asking how everyone thinks is the quickest way to sex/pheno/add to main grow.

so it seems just veg them out till they show.. Remove males.. Clone... Find phenos(smoke)… clone mother plant.. Have big grow.

I grow until the 3rd node and pinch the top, which is usually a few weeks. I then get 2 tops to clone in a few more weeks. Put the parent plant in flower and root the clones. If it shows lady parts, turn one clone into a mom and flower the other. This all assumes you have good cloning skills. Cheers.

il usually line up all of whatever strain I'm running when I'm pheno hunting right before i put em in flower. like 6 diff seeds and i try to see which one is the real grower/outperformer of the bunch. which one has most nodes whatever which one stinks i guess just which one really stands out and il clone that one before i toss em in flower. if i find a special one in flower i don't have clones of just clone a bud its ez peezy lemon squeezy and you get some radical plants. all tops and shit. very cool stuff

Have never done the clone or sock trick but do know some of preflowers. After 5 weeks look at the 4th node I think it is. Second down from top anyways and I can pick out the females more often than not.

Without hairs sticking out you look for a cone shaped preflower. The males will be more rounded or football shaped. If you are lucky you will see pistils coming out of the females.

I would guess that it would take 5 weeks from germ to clone or flower a branch so why bother?

it is really easy to just pop a couple under branches off and use the end of them as bud clones. i get my babies in as fast as i can really and like i said i clone the stand out and if she's not a winner il usually gift the clone or just flower it when its little. then any winners that show il take clones at like 4-5 weeks it takes 10-21 days to clone buds really sometimes longer so unless you wanna harvest before your clones are ready try to take em around 4-5 weeks. you can always harvest and throw the underbud mass (internal mass of the plant that never really develops) back in veg then take clones off that too. ive had to do that once. takes a few weeks but she will revert for ya. if its a pheno you really wanna save there is usually a way to save it.

i feel its the way i get the best producing plant in the bloom room the fastest. just treat it like you got a mother and veg its face off and if ya gotta clone ya do it later! mind you i have lost a strain like this but honestly o well i could probably use to loose a few more i got so many new ones i wanna try!

Fastest/most effective way to definitively sex a plant? Start with a clone from a known female plant.

Second fastest way? Its possible to do genetic analysis on a sample from an immature plant and determine its sex that way, but this is prohibitive for anyone who doesn't have access to an advanced biology lab!

Most realistic way for a grower starting from ceed? Sorry. . .you got to wait until the plant shows "preflowers" like everyone else. With quick flowering strains that can happen as early as 3 weeks from seed, though most seem to take about 4-5 weeks.

When you say bud clones, do you mean you're cloning a plant that's deep into flower? Is this the same as "monster cropping." I'm looking for the best way to pheno hunt regular seeds as quickly as possible.

Also how often does revegging a harvested plant work out? Seems risky but obviously very efficient if it works.

The tallest plants with the most vigor tend to be males if you really are dead set on culling them early. I tend to wait though as that's not a sure thing rule, more like a guideline.
