80% of Pre-Packaged Foods in America Are Banned in Other Countries

If you or your kids enjoy pre-packaged convenience foods commonly found in grocery stores across the U.S. such as Froot Loops, Swanson dinners, Mountain Dew, and frozen potato and bread products, you may think twice before purchasing them after hearing what they contain: dangerous chemicals that other countries around the globe have deemed toxic to the point that they're illegal, and companies are fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for including them in food products.
In a new book Rich Food, Poor Food, authors Mira and Jason Calton provide a list of what they term "Banned Bad Boys" - ingredients commonly used in up to 80% of all American convenience food that have been banned by other countries, with information about which countries banned each substance and why.

I guess if someone develops cancer 20 years later that likely won't be traced to your product it doesn't matter.

Most other countries do not have the GD tv that we have. People do not watch tv like we do here. They are much more politically educated and engaged. They are well read, tend to speak several languages, etc. The game that capitalism was has reached the point where the final few players who have accumulated everything are running the show, and the rest of the world.

eggggcellent post. Americans are nothing but sheople for large corps to fleece.

i think it's much more than that clayton.. it's more like the u.s. government simply opts to fleece its citizens instead of standing up for them like any other normal country and banning these bad boy products.. they don't gaf about us, and so long as they continue to make money from our consumerism, they won't change a thing about any of it, why would they ?/

They taste like 'Merica. ;-)

I like them, but I don't eat them anymore because even if I never saw an article like the one the OP posted it's still very obvious that they are terrible for you. Makes Mc Donalds look like health food.

Exactly why I am growing my own vegetable garden and trying to cook all my meals from scratch as much as I can. I've already lost weight and feel much better at the end of the day. It's digusting how much crap is added into pre packaged food...

Thanks! It's so satisfying just knowing you grew it yourself too. Also you don have to worry about any weird growth chemicals other than what you choose to use. (Strawberries sound delicious right now, omg :P)

Get into canning if you are not already. I don't think we are going to have to buy tomato sauce for 6 months after we can up our tomatos this year. A good pressure canner is a nice investment if you want to can low acid foods.
