Two words greedy corporations love "Free Enterprise" most americans here are ignorant. Take away the twinkies and jelly doughnuts there will be riots. Our elected officials allows poison to roam the streets as long as their is coin in their pocket. That's all they care about money and power. We are like Clayton said "goyem" sheep.

Also the market is being manipulated precious metals are losing value. Gold dropped $200 :spew: gold is supposed to be a sound investment. Well at least physical gold. They think the public is stupid. A shit ton of "paper"gold was dumped. But I know why!! Who ever it is must of bought physical gold to hoard away. Omg don't even get me started on fiat currency.

My wife won't let me eat stuff like that. She makes me eat these things called "home-cooked meals".
I've been helping with meals by learning how to make corn bread, pancakes, biscuits etc from scratch. I don't think at this point I can let my wife make cookies for get togethers any more though. lol.

What is "scratch" to you?

I only ask because many people's idea of cooking from "scratch" is getting a package of corn break or pancake mix and frying them up.

Do you go so far to grind your own grains? Just curious what steps you guys are taking.

Lol no I'm not grinding my own grains. I bought cornmeal, I always have flour, baking soda, baking powder, milk, buttermilk and local honey on hand. I have my lessons from spending time on a farm with my gram when I was a kid. So I guess you can say I'm cooking from scratch from a early to mid 20th century point of view. I don't like box cooking, my mother inlaw uses bisquick. I don't.

Oh and I make sun greentea instead of buying crap from the store. I do indulge in the ocassional sip of my wifes cola when we go out to eat though.

Rock on, it's a healthy way to live. Most people wouldn't know what to do if you gave them the few basic essentials in life as far as food goes, nor would they know that there is a million things they can make with only a handful of ingrediants. But they will never know that if they don't stop reading the cook times on the backs of frozen food packages and start learning how to make real food instead of this frankenfood crap they shove down their throats day in and day out.

Just do this one simple thing people and it will be leaps and bounds towards eating healthy....don't buy anything frozen. You can freeze your own foods that you have made, meats, premade meals from scratch, etc, but don't by something already frozen. It takes the guess work out of a lot of it.

We do keep frozen berries in the house. Red meat has been cut waaaay back, like I'll buy my wife a steak when we go out, and I have the occasional burger at the pub. I'm having a tuff time getting the wife past her texture issues with tofu though.

I'm starting a few garden projects for next year. It's all good farm land here,.I feel 15 years younger since I changed my diet and started eating fresh fruit and vegetables everyday and reading whats in all the store bought shit. Quiting the fast food was the best move.
.....with the exception of taco bell! I can't stop, it's like fast food crack.

if you hate plastic neon cheese and frozen dinners you hate america. get with the program, commies.

seriously, though. our food is the worst. it's fucked up how you have to go to earthy crunchy stores and pay double just to get normal food. i'd rather be able to skip to the local market and pay normal prices, even if it meant they were a little higher than what i currently pay. the interesting thing is, if there wasn't so much weird crap in our food, we'd probably eat less to begin with and it would be a wash. everything from the crazy artificial colors that psychologically make the food more appealing so you eat more to the weird preservatives that allow people to buy way more food than they need. also the obscene amounts of sugar in everything because of the price of corn syrup. i don't need sugar in my fucking salad dressing and mac and cheese. it's just my opinion, but all the extra sugar in everything is ruining the american palate to the point that regular food tastes weird.

and i think it's absolutely HILARIOUS that they basically banned trans fat but it's ok to feed arsenic to our food chickens and use weird food additives that only benefit the manufacturer. the fda is america's least funny joke.

We started juicing a few months back and I haven't felt this healthy in at least a decade. You can eat 10,000 calories a day of the swill they push, and STILL be hungry because your body is not getting the nutrients it needs. THAT is why 'Mericans are fat.

When you juice, you get all of the nutrients you need and you are not really hungry all day. We do vegetables in the morning and fruits at night. We eat at most two meals a day aside. We are actually saving money on our groceries!!!

I recently invested in a vitamix and it's awesome! I like blending as opposed to juicing because you get the fiber

Man I *LOVE* my juicer!!! I can actually feel the energy rush when it hits; my face and ears get warm and I can feel a surge of energy throughout my whole body. The only part I don't like is the cleanup but mine is all stainless steel except for the top and push thingy, so at least it cleans up quickly. I'm going to start doing a LOT more juicing.

A lime adds a nice pop to any veggie heavy juicing you may do.
