This is my second post i'm a new member and new to the grow these are my first girls... so i hope it goes to the right thread spot....Sunni can you move me again..lol anyway in my first post titled " Help my plants got the flu or something" i'm scared to screw these girls up being a first time grower especially with some gifted love i don't wanna tell my boy i killed what he gave me ..... so now here i am stressing and trying everything in the book conventional methods like plain water with Hydrogen perxoide to boost oxygen and now i can up withthis ideal to use mirrors to direct sunlight on the plant from the oppsite side of it and as noontime comes the mirrors need to be adjusted upward and the result the underside of the leaves get reflected sunlight enough to make them light up.... i have read threads/advice that mirrors don't reflect all the light it recieves and are useless.... well today i literally watched my plants react to this lighting in realtime and seen them grow new branches upward off the branches i have tied down (bend & grow technique) they are getting fat and bushy instead of growing christmas tree style some advice i recieved here on this our lovely site....... so my question is are these mirrors hurting my plants in this vegeative state i thought plants loved light here are some pictures after i noticed and seen the growth rate increase today i'm gonna keep doing it until one of our experinced staff hence all our pro-growers say stop...... is it ..........GOOD OR BAD ideal to use these mirrors

Mirrors are not bery efficient at reflecting light, contrary to popular belief. They absorb a lot of it.If you Google it, I think you will find the percentage of reflected light is only like 65-70%, whereas Foil, Mylar, and white paint are rated higher.

Hey but althor. You never know, maybe someone will come along one day with a real idea worth considering! like? how about pot plants that have their own reflection cone? sounds logical to me! (with the possibility of adjusting the cone size to accommodate for overgrown plants.)

as for the music, I put on some mozart and was reminded of what exactly it is. I'm going to instead be playing piano music for my plants  recorded of course. I don't want to subject them to my newb piano skills.

Für Elise- Romantic Piano Music\ 01 Impromptus (4) for piano, D. 935 (Op. posth. 142)- No 2, in A flat major.wma

^ and stuff like that.

i heard that giving plants water helps them to grow??? :P

but on a serious note....foil is more more effective, and applyable!!

everywhere I have looked regarding this states what everyone else says, however I think putting it into context is what you need my friend. people saying the mirror sucks and it eats too much of the light are comparing the mirror to OTHER reflective surfaces (mylar, flatwhite etc). you however, are comparing nothing used, to mirror used in which case a mirror is better . if a mirror eats (numbers for example only ) 20-30 percent of the light it goes to reflect it means using a mirror compared to no mirror will still give you 70-80 more reflected light than you had as you previous to the mirror were getting 0 percent. you will find lots of posts here where everything is compared to the best possible solution, and for vendors this is brilliant, to compare from the best down to the worst, however if you have nothing something is usually better....just common sense. This is a study on the percentage of light reflected by mirrors, foil, paper, etc.

All this speak of a mirror not reflecting all spectrums seems a bit ridiculous...
When the light is reflected at you it is white(ie a complete colour spectrum).
You just need to aim your mirror correctly, so that it sees the light in the mirror, NOT ITSELF!
Think of the mirror as another light, just with lightrays that do not 'fan out' nearly as much.
Hop spots will likely only occur when two or more mirrors sit perpendicular.
As well have you ever heard of someone with a hot spot issue due to

The mirror, while not as reflective as white paint or mylar, will be easier to clean and will still reflect more light than nothing at all. That, and it'll look classy as f**k. Picture it. All these people hatin' on your mirror are just jealous of your shine. Also, you'll be able to check for pests under the leaves easier. The more I think about it, the more I like it. I'm a seasoned grower, and I think your mirror idea is sick. Like, good sick, not actually sick...

Oh good grief......and nobody picked up on the guy using H2O2 in soil?
NOT GOOD FOR THE SOIL!!!! Peroxide kills the bios in the soil jr!

You want o2 to the roots more? = Water less-more often....

As for mirrors or foil,,,,not good either.....I should not have to elaborate on this!

You're better off grabbing a big roll of sunscreen reflective film.

Just cut and tape it to cardboard. Now the light will be reflected not absorbed.

Foil sucks. Think about it. All the light that hits that crinkly stuff goes all over the place, with only a little hitting the leaves. Much better of with Mylar, flat white paint, or what I use which is reflective insulating foam board. I love that shit, very easy to use, no Mylar droop or support needed, no paint or board needed, you just by a 4x8 sheet, cut it with a knife and stand it up around your plants. Works well for me.

You ever pick up a mirror? The weight is a BIG drawback, plus cost.
1/2" plywood, can of flat white spray paint, a couple of 2x4's and screws for support and it's done.
