new to plant growing

I've been a toker for a while, but have never grown. Last month I tried growing 2 plants to see how I could do, but it didn't turn out. I still have the plants, but I don't have the right supplies. I don't want to do anything huge, this is just marijuana for myself. I was wondering what kind of things I would need to grow a successful batch of about 2-4 plants.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knows of a good location to get seeds in Vancouver?

thanks

Well you've come to the right place. First thing you shoulf do is read, read and more reading on this site. Check out the GROW FAQ, the grow journals and do some searching. Sorry i dont know much about buying seeds, Im still in the novice stage of growing myself so I use bagseed (so its not as big a deal if I screw up) I suggest you do the same untill you can keep a plant alive and healthy for a while. Good Luck!

you could get a bunch of cfl bulbs the sprill one. get daylight or warmwhite bulbs. the higher the wattage the better.once you get those bulbs you want to keep them1-3 inches from the top of the plants. if you have the money to spend get a 150w hps it will work for the veg & flower stages of growing. when you have ne problems a pic is worth a thousand words.you want bulbs in the 6500 kelvin range the higher the k rating the more blue light it gives off

dear god,, its vansterdamn you should be able to find seeds somewhere,, i think you just need to look harder...... supplies for 2-4 plants? well if you are going HID (HPS or MH) i would suggest at least 400 watts of either to get sufficient lighting. depending on how cool or hot the area you will be growing in (and the size) you may need a cooltube for your bulb... ventilation is always a must and should be judged on temp and size of the area... if it is a closet type grow you can buy these 4" 115v fans for like 10 bucks at radio shack or some kind of liquidation or surplus store. You will need at least two of these,, one for intake and one for exhaust and you may need some ducting to get the hot air away from the plants.
soil - try to get some store-bought sterile soil with some pearlite in it. some varities will also have humus and compost for added nutrients,, its a good thing... and obviously a pot.. or 4 depending on how many you plan on growing.... get some nutes too,,,, nitrogen is a must for veg state but you wont need it for a week or two after seed. make sure to get something for flowering too,, something high in Phosphoric acid and potash.
and it wouldnt hurt to get some litmus paper for pH testing... you want ph around 6.5 for veg and 6 for flowering

oh forgot something really important... a thermometer with a humidex reading.... dont let the tops of your plants get over 90 degrees if you can... try to keep humidity around 50% (loosely) for veg and lower than 40% for flow

alright, thanks very much. As an estimate how much do you think everything to start off in amateur growing would cost?

bare minimum 100$ for something decent... but really the more money you put into it the better and bigger product you will get... i put about 300$ into a 1-2 plant op,,, but i have 3 seperate boxes for each stage of growth.. seedling and veg (both which i use cfl) and flow (HPS) so i also have three lights.. and 5 fans.. and ducting... and nutes for every stage.. and foliar spray... that can add up... if you are planning on running 4 plants the lighting for that could cost you 100$ alone.. it just depends on how big you want to go... but like i said bare minimum 100$... unless you have a lot of stuff kicking around the house that can be used and you are handy

I'm pretty handy, but don't really have any gardening stuff around the house. I could probably do nicely with about 150, and hey, with a good turn out I'll have made much more than that, so it's kind of an investment.

exactly,, thats the way i look at it,, the more money you put into it the bigger and better the buds,,, therefore you will have to buy less... or you will have more to sell
