Questions from a wannabe patient with NO recent medical records

Are there any doctors that accept pain journals (say for a month) instead of having recent medical records? Preferably on the west side of the state? Is this practice even legal?

Hello. Welcome to the site. You should be a part of it for a while before asking these type of questions.

I dont know why you deleted your first post which was more informative than this. A pain journal will help but it's no substitute for a medical history. You likely need to go to a ready care clinic for your initial diagnosis, from there you may proceed straight to mmj dr for script.

What is your illness that you're hoping to treat mmj with?

no records means no cert from reputable doctors. I would suggest documenting your condition with readicares, or visit a chiropractor. Most health departments can refer you to a sliding scale clinic with income based fees.

do it right if you want to do it.

Not trying to get a card without medical records. Trying to figure out what the minimal medical record requirements are? Money is real tight for me so I don't want to waste $$$ on multiple visits to a doctors office if one will suffice for the purpose of documenting my symptoms. I had read in previous posts that a pain journal worked for some mmj docs in the past in addition to medical records to help speed up the process. I was just wondering if this tactic still works...Apparently that's a touchy subject around here. Sooooo, moving on!

I understand that this being my first post will come across as fishy to some members but there isn't much I can do about that. I edited my first post because I had second thoughts about posting this question at all because after re-reading it, it sounded fishy to me...lol If the forum would have let me I would have deleted the entire message. All well it's out there now.

medical records are now a necessity along with follow up visits in michigan. as the good dr. stated try to find a free clinic or a sliding scale clinic that will be able to document your medical issues but on that i cannot help as i know of no such places myself. maybe some one else can chime in with some advice on such a clinic in your area. newcomers with certain questions will set off alarms

Not an illness so much as arthritic shoulders. When I was a kid I broke my collarbone. Many years later I wrecked a motorcycle and separated my shoulder on the same side. Add many years of heavy weight lifting and my shoulders are shot. I can deal with the pain during the day but I have a hell of a time sleeping at night. I took otc pain meds for years at night to sleep but those meds wreaked havoc on my stomach which lead to being diagnosed with Reflux in 2008. A condition I still suffer with if I take any pills or don't watch my diet. Reflux at night makes getting sleep almost as hard as dealing with the pain. I'm done with pills!

Acid-reflux has been creeping into my list of symptoms (it's a long list now, Lol). Seems a binge of fried or processed foods is the best way to trigger it. I'm watching it closely, trying not to drink two pots of coffee each day (add hypertonic bladder, lol) and just hoping my program will improve and my symptoms w reflux don't increase! I've cut way back on Ibu/motrin also.

during an occurance, sleeping at a distict upright angle and no bending or lifting seems to help.

Yep, I don't touch fried or spicy foods much anymore. Same with Aspirin and Motrin. Coffee will bring me to my knees. Grape Poweraid is my kryptonite.

The thing with reflux for me is that I can control it with lifestyle changes. The lack of sleep I get from the shoulder pain is another story. Not much I can do about it unless I can figure out how to sleep upright.

So I just called a local Chiropractor. They will consult with me for free and charge $36 for an adjustment. They will also order x-rays (if they deam them necessary) for $50-$100. I guess I'm wondering how to handle this visit? Should I request x-rays? Is there anything I can or should do or say to help my chances once I see a mmj doc? I'm not going to lie to them I just want to make sure the chiropractor notes all the necessary info on my medical records to give me the best shot at qualifying for a mmj card.

relax you'll qualify, just have 'em make thorough notes, most chiros r cool about mmj, doesn't really matter if you mention it or not. If cost is a concern, X rays r not mandatory IMO (unprofessional opinion). Def. take the adjustment though, sounds reasonable and like you may benefit from the relief! Let us know when you send out your paperwork from your next key 2nd dr's. visit, now you're on yer way.

Ok, I'll relax...lol

So if I'm understanding the underlined part of you're post correctly, I need to see the Chiropractor twice before seeing a mmj doc? If that's true how much time between visits would you suggest?
