recently harvested my CFL grow, and I'm slightly disappointed...

Hey,

just harvested my second grow, its a Mohan Ram from Sweet Seeds. I had them under my lights for nearly 8 or 9 week. They turned out OK.
no health issues or anything that I noticed. I smoked a bud from the plant yesterday, and it was the feeling was not what I was looking for.
It just seemed weaker than I expected.

could it be the plant?
the way I smoked it?
the fact it wasn't fully cured?
I've got a little bit of asthma at the moment?
maybe harvested too early?

I don't know. The trichromes were cloudy and slightly amber with mostly brown hairs. not sure what the problem is.

What did happen:

Very alert, thoughtful, more energetic, somewhat disoriented,

What I'd like:

I've smoked weed that really took me to profound levels of concentration, particularly when listening to music. Where I hear with real
clarity, everything from counterpoint, key harmony changes- which take on whole new meaning- etc.

also laughing fits,
doesn't happen with me anymore- or is it because my last two grow were CFLS....

It's not the CFLs. My CFLs have produced some super potent bud. I'd guess you need a proper cure, or it's the wrong strain to give you the effects you're after.

I am completely novice at this. But I'd guess it was the drying and curing. Almost everything I've read about growing your own is that, if you don't properly dry AND cure, it will affect your smoke. The consensus, from what I'm understanding is not only do you need several days(7-14, depending on your area)drying, but also a good curing period. I've read where you can speed up the process, but even using techniques that speed it up, it doesn't produce the quality you can expect from a proper dry and at least a month of cure. But, like I said, I'm a complete noob here, so that's just my .02

Hard to say but my guess would be strain. I know a lot of people say curing is completely necessary but my buddy didn't cure his buds at all he just dried them and they smoked great.

I say probably curing. It's the most important process to keep the buds potent, well to me.

Did your cure for a least a month?

It may just be the strain. Have you been smoking something else? If you we're previously smoking a strain with high CBD content, I find a little break to be necessary before switching strains.

Your potency will increase as you cure as well. In three or four weeks you will have a better idea.

Ps...my friend is a bassist and he loves Mandala Seeds Satori for creativity. Give it a try some time.

*edit It's certainly not the THC content of that strain, which is listed between 18-21%.

The Cure/Dry process, will only improve the taste, and the smoke ability of your MJ…


Even the most expert and experienced grower can not take and grow shitty pot, and somehow turn it into Medical grade with a magic dry and cure…


It just doesn’t work that way…


I think you harvested too early…

The amber/tea colored tric’s will be more now that you’ve dried, now look under your loop, and see if you see any?

You said “Plant had mostly brown hairs…” I never harvest a plant with any white hairs…

Better luck next time…

You can take good pot and turn it into shit with a bad cure.

correct but you can't take a low thc plant and increase potency by curing. curing will affect taste and how smooth your smoke is. potency is determined through genetics and the growing process

The strain should have a high THC content...
maybe I did harvest too early. But it couldn't have been THAT early...

Somewhat correct, No additional THC will grow after your crop a plant. Most people crop when 70% of the hairs are brown because the rest will still turn after cropping. This is done to avoid too much loss.

Now if he was taking his buds and making a concentrate then curing would have little effect. Since he is going to be smoking it there are hundreds of other chemicals and components inside cannabis flowers that cause other feelings and effects.

Without properly curing the flowers you will not be able to receive what I call a "full body'd high" meaning its got everything you expect and then some.

I cure anywhere from 4-16 weeks depending on the method and strain.

I highly doubt you have seen even close to everyone's grows to be considered qualified to speak on "most people"'s behalf.

Only noobs go by hair color, considering hairs can change colors at different rates for different strains.

You judge trichs by looking at them with a loop. Not by going off of hair color. lol
