Uh oh. For my birthday this year my wife bought me some lights. I wish she would have spoken with me first, but what can I do except be very grateful? She bought me three of these. Advanced LED Diamond Series XML - 10W Cree XML 350s. Are these any good or should I find a way to return them? (I have the 350s not the 150s, which might matter). How many plants will I be able to cover with these lights? All my plants are in five gallon air pots.

Those wouldn't be my first choice in lights but they aren't junk either - your wife did much better choosing than most..I can't believe how many people buy junk Blackstars and ebay UFOs.

My guess is that each 350 will cover about a 3 x 3 ft area at maximum (probably better 2 1/2x 2 1/2) for flower. Veg is waaaaaaay easier and probably could cover 4 x 4 fteach. If we guess about 300 watts of light then at 9ft2, you've got 33 watts/ft2 and at 6.25ft2 (2.5 x 2.5 ft) you've got 48 watts/ft2. 33 watts/ft2 seems a little low(probably fine) for bridgelux leds (the only Crees are the 10 white LEDs) but 48 watts/ft2 is reasonable to maybe a little overkill which isn't bad unless you've got serious heat issues.

I prefer area51 sgs160s for a commercial product as they are all Cree (turn that power into light not wasted heat!), they provide good specs for their product and seem to grow good buds. I don't know how much hassle it is to return the 350s or if they provide good coverage for your grow area. The SGS 160s can cover each about 2 x 2 to 2 x 3 (for flower)...You can grow with less watts/ft2 with this panel than most because the LEDs are quality and do that power into light thing very well...so cooler and cheaper to run.

XML350 will cover up to a 4x4, but more like 3X3, and the extra space of a 4x4 will help you move stuff around and get everything setup well. 4x4 = <21w/sq.ft 3x3 = 55w/sq.ft, 40-50w/sq.ft is "ideal" from everything I've read and seen.

Like JC said, it would not have been my first choice, but she definitely didn't get you some shit. ~330W from the plug.

I'd run 4-6 plant under that, in a 4x4. I know there are a few people here that use that lamp, and have had decent success so far.

I wouldn't say no, if the option was to trade an XML350 for 2x SGS-160's, but I'm biased... I have one already.

just wondering.. what kind of yield can you expect with perfect growing conditions in soil with a 135 w hydro lighthouse blackstar (3w) leds? i have heard that they have actual watts 75,is that true? I mean what is the best shot you have with this light?

umm okay i know this is probably a cheap light but it looks like it might be worth the $200 price tag.. I have done a little research into these LED lights and this one seems to have all the marks in the box..what do you guys think?

Don't believe the hype- the 500-600 range is very important just not as much as 450-470 or 630+

Those fans are NOISY

Useful coverage ~ 2 x 2= one plant; 2 of them ($400) would cover 3-4 plants

For < $300 you can get 3 @ 4ft 2 bulb shop lights (@ $18 )= $54 + 6 x 4ft ~ 20w LED tubes @ $35 = $210 or $264 to cover 2 X 4 grow space. As led tubes wattage increases simply replace a few tubes at a time. They'll be awesome for veg /clones for many years to come

I am running 4 x 4ft tubes now.

Come by to see how well they are performing

I'm a new grower and always looking to improve on my grow box. I use cfl's now but have been looking at the led's on amazon. I've seen some on amazon for like 40 or 50 bucks. what's the opinion on them ? are they novelty or will they really work ?

Hi guys! I'm in the process of dumping the HIDs (150W HPS/MH) in favor of LED technology due to the HID's generated heat. My geolocation also a disadvantage - high temperatures from spring to late autumn. I've got a small closet of 0.4 m² dressed in mylar. You think you could recommend some EU based online shops (or even China based) that are known to commercialize quality Cree/OSRAM chips? Thank you!

Hey guys, I'm trying to decide between these two panels for a 2' x 1.5' space, for both veg and flower:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-New-300W-LED-Grow-Light-9Band-IR-Flowering-Hydroponic-LED-Grow-Lamp-Panel-/390567591853
http://www.hydroponicshut.com/pro-grow-led-grow-lights.html/pro-grow-260-led-grow-light-hydroponics-hut.html

The specs are pretty similar (180W real draw, dimensions etc). The Pro Grow 260 has 119 3W diodes vs. 100 in the China light, but the Pro Grow is more than twice the price.
Since this will be my first LED, I don't want to spend so much...just wanna try it out in the small cab I have. So what do y'all think? Is the Pro Grow worth it? Is the China LED good enough, or is there a better option?

The Pro Grow worth it . The Chinese one is terrible .Their warranty is like this . They assemble the led lights and then tell the customers that their warranty is 2 years , 3 years . No any testing for their warranty . The quality is also bad . What they said Epistar or cree led chips , actually are Chinese made cheap led chips , quality is bad . 0.5USD for one 3W LED chip, good or not ??/
