far red LED for flower initiator?

Actually, discounting the Chinese chips, what's wrong with using the exotic brand (probably Chinese too)? I don't think the idea is to blast them with as much high efficiency far red as possible, just enough for the plant to sense through its leaves. Those exotics would be cheap enough, and would provide only far red.

Reasonable argument, I'll chew on the thought, but in general I prefer building things with good quality components.

it is so easy to do 12/12 and that's how you know how many days you have left for a particular strain and what not.

These are outdoors and if I can speed them up to even finish them there it would be ideal. There is a real chance that the three moved indoors won't be finished by the time I would have to move in the big outdoor plants. It's a matter of available space, and timing.

check out these.

they will custom the leds in them and do have IR 730nm leds available.

I read the fine print and checked feedback from that ad. Apparently, the customization is limited to where it would not be useful to me. "Infrared (wavelength: 730nm): ... If you really need it for a specific situation, we can add 1 or 2 piece IR LEDs."

And, all feedback is listed as "private" I don't trust
such obfuscation.

fully understand, no harm in asking

I agree, for the most part. I could have stuck with LED Groupbuy for 100% of my LEDs, but the only 660nm red they had was their Exotic brand. Since 16/60 LEDs on my panel are 660nm, wanted to go with something better so got the Rebel ES from Rapidled.

I admire the comparison research. Great that you share that.

It was tempting. The Exotics were cheaper, and would have saved me even more when you included shipping costs. What sold me was that the the Rebel ES is 665mw @ 700ma while the Exotic is 560mw. At 16 pieces, that's 1680mw more for the Rebel ES, well worth the extra $22.40.

Yes, thanks
Cap'n, thanks for the link, follow the instructions for each use and they work. Indoors I suggest starting at 12/12, then after a week or so as the buds are really forming gradually go back to 13.5/ 10.5 or 14/10, if one uses more light deprivation, at that point move back to 12/12 one will get scrog like results, with the benefit of more total daily umoles.

Here's a new video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNJTC_xkw4E

Cap'n, I have attempted to have these made by a number of manufacturers, only two were capable of providing dependable products, not all 730 are created equal. I have lowered the prices on my 10 and 20 watt water resistant lamps. I have spent several years coming up with the product ideas and development of dependable products.
