I just ordered a [h=1]Milwaukee pH600 Digital pH Tester[/h]
Like 25 bucks. I love the brand and they way their other tools perform so I thought I'd give it a shot

i have the milwaukee ph600 but I dont know what to do about keeping the end moist/wet. Any advice? Ive killed 3 so far..

Keep the cap filled with tap water. Calibrate those weekly or monthly at the least.
Mine is only about 6 months old and its about to crap out. I have the calibration screw all the way in and I can't get it to dial to 7.0 in calibration solution. Guess I need to buy another.

Spend the extra $$$ and buy a quality meter. I'd either go with BlueLab or Hanna (I went with BlueLab). I've never grown anything in my life before this (actually still in progress, may end up eating my own words before it's all said and done) but I did a lot of research, purchased quality equipment, and now my first grow is looking pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

Just one added thing, even if you can't afford to get all expensive equipment right off the start you can still buy it in pieces as you go along. Quality equipment will generally last longer and you'll have it for many grows down the road. Just my two cents.

From what I understand even the expensive ph pens have about a one year lifespan. That is one reason I like the $20 Milwaukee - although mine is 6 months old and about to go bad. If you can get 18 months out of any ph meter then you are lucky.

Water?? Errr no.....ph 4 calibration fluid is best to store the probe in.

Old thread, but I had a blue labs that was "waterproof" and it fried out on me. I've had a Milwaukee ph600 that isn't waterproof, but it is 25% the cost of a blue labs and it isn't very far off at calibration. I have gotten better at not dropping things in my bucket
