What's best pots to grow?

Hey guys I'm a beginner and not sure what best pots to use for growing is it a pot that has hole on bottom so water can run off or just straight flower pot?

Anything that will block light from getting to the roots and has holes on the bottom for drainage...U can use almost anything

Hey there, I'm a beginner too. I'm using those cheap $3 styrofoam ice chests from walmart. I put a bunch of good sized holes in the bottom and around the bottom of each side and set them up on bricks. I saw one poster was using plastic trash cans like the kind you use in your kitchen and another poster was using a storage tote. Someone told me to check out smart pots for my next. You could look into those. Whatever you are using just make sure its got good drainage and if it doesn't then make some. Good luck to you!

I use generic smart pots from amazon. They are fabric, have handles and are only $3 a piece. They air prune to prevent root binding and I have NEVER overwatered using them since the drainage is so good. Use75% fox farm ocean forest and 25% perlite and you should be all set!

I use the walmart self watering pots. I water with nutes from the top and regular water from the bottom

Fabric smart pots are awesome imo. Roots love air and u can still water with heavy nutes and drains beautifully.

I use grow bags now. They are ez to transport. I like 5gallon used nursery pots too cuz they're cheap

Heard of people using storage tubs etc. You can use all kinds of stuff, but remember that sunlight will degrade some materials. Indoor grow light is probably a little easier on stuff since it's less intense.

Drainage, size and portability are some factors to consider.

I made some containers out of some black plastic and wire that are working pretty well and I like those little peat pots for seedlings/cuttings.

Are they being used indoors?

Only thing I noticedon smart pots is that the runoff likes tocome out of the sides and not the bottom :/ keeps roots from growing down... Just my personal experience.

Growing in 5 Gallon Smart Pots now will be switching over to 3 Gallon after this run. They are great. To combat the water coming out the sides focus the water more towards the center then water outwards and you should get a steady water over the entire pot

$3.00 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot. I drill 3 1 &7/8" holes in the bottom and use the lid as a template to cut a circle of landscape fabric to put in the bottom. Throw some river rock in the bottom & done.

This is exactly how my setup is- smart pot, ffof soil. & 25% perlite. Works great.
