HELP!! What is the problem with my plants??

Hey everyone!!!

I am a first time grower and I was quite happy with how my plants have been doing so far up until a few weeks ago. They're nice and strong, only found 1 male out of 8 plants, i think that the females are about to flower and the weather has been great this summer (an alien concept to Ireland!). However, a couple weeks ago I have been having some major problems (or perhaps not, as I am a newbie I have no idea how bad my situation is?). As you can see in the photos there is something going not according to plan.

I have been seeing mainly numerous Spittle-Bugs (Frog-hoppers) and greenflies, among other flies hanging in and around my plants! I think they might be the cause to the strange markings on my plants. At first I was not too worried as it was only affecting some fan leaves but now it has spread to the potential bud sites (or at least where I think that the buds will be, I am a newbie after all).

Also, I am thinking it may, perhaps, be a nutrient deficiency but I am only thinking of things that could be going wrong that could be causing this. I am currently feeding the plants with fox farm soil trio nutrients,

This is only REALLY bad on 1 of the 7 plants but it is extremely apparent on 3 others, while the other 3 are showing marking but only very little and also only on a few of the fan leaves.

Can anybody help me in identifying what is happening with my sweet sweet babies please??

And can anybody also tell me how to solve this problem (preferably using a natural, organic method)??

Also, on a scale of 1-10 how bad is this situation going to reflect on my final harvest (especially on the 1 which is extremely affected)??

I apologise for going off on a bit of a rant, it's just that I want to cover all the bases as I would like my first grow to be a successful one!!!

Those plants are outside. It is very rare to get leaf eating insects indoors.

It is definitely insect damage. You'll have to look up common garden insects in your area and find the culprit.

Then you can find out how to deal with the specific insect. The same thing is happening to my basil and sage plants outside. The bean and cilantro plants next to them are fine.

I don't own a decent camera, dont think i can get any closer than the pics above!

It must be bugs, people are suggesting neem oil!?!

thanks for the advice, neem oil should be here in a few days! Until then, I am using a homemade remedy of :
1/2 teaspoon dishwashing liquid
1/4 teaspoon cooking oil
1 quart warm water,
to keep those buggers away!

Do you think this will work?

Also, you said to go gently with the neem oil? how much is gently? do i have to dilute it with water??

MYOB, yes you are correct. they are outside plants!

as far as i can tell there are many greenflies, froghoppers and some type of spider? not sure what the hell it is?

Should i just go with the neem oil application as suggested to rid my plants of these guys??

hey trippytrappy, its outdoor, miraclegro soil/compost, and am using fox farm soil trio (grow big, tiger, big bloom) nutes. i will upload full pic of plant asap,!

I would just use the dishsoap for now it will smother them, and ya when you get your Neem Oil you have to mix 4 teaspoons to a gallon of water and add a teaspoon of dawn dishsoap as an emulsifier (to mix oil and water)

That damage looks to me like caterpillar damage, I've recently found a few making themselves at home on my outdoor lady. Might not be a bad idea to invest in some BT. I have a bottle of Safer brand BT coming, can be picked up on amazon for $10 shipped from Hydroponics Market.

lol...really...where you at buddy? I've never heard of that fairy washing up liquid and damn, I'm old too...lol..
dawn.jpg this is dawn dishsoap..you know..what they save all the wildlife that's been covered in oil spills around the world with..but any environmentally safe dishsoap will work

This is fairy! Its what i have been using so far!? hope it's alright?

I'm from Ireland and i think it's been around for years upon years around here! As long as I have been anyway! :P

my friend you have spider mites
luckily there is a very very easy and cheap way to fix your problem. go on amazon and buy the smallest bottle of "floromite" you can find and follow the directions. Grinspoon out :hump:
