Light engineers say that flat white paint and reflectors can almost double the apparent light in a room. So reflectors are good if you can do it.

Yes because even if the ceailing is covered in mylar, you want to as much as possible direct the light straight down as much as humanly possible.

Hitting the ceailing out of the top of the bulb then down wards will kill the Intensity of the light.

You can very easily make a reflector if you need.

Or the make self reflected light bulbs.

thanks, i have a reflector(wing), but a couple of branches are growing outside of the wings radius. growing lui, but i think the bank slipped in a sativa. when i'm done with this one i'll bend up the wing a bit. again thanks for the reply, armand

Ironically I am studying for a materials exam right now.

The mylar will absorb and reflect the light.
The reflectivity, R = Intensity reflected/initial intensity = (n-1/n+1)^2 where n is the refraction index of mylar.

Thanks for helping me study :hump:

if you cant get your hands on mylar and have a walmart or something near you, you can by an emergency blanket. They are like 1.28 and are like 5 feet x 5 feet

Bad with heat spots if there is even a single crinkle in it.

Also Semi transparent.

And you have to use tape to secure them into place cause they tear like its nobodys business.

it is true they rip easily, never really had a problem with heat spots and mine have some crinkles in it. My plants are less then an inch away from it. Wasn't really suggesting that it was as good as mylar, just saying if he can't get his hands on mylar at a store near him, theres just as cheap of an alternative.

Wordum, just listing thier faults.

You grow with CFL though right?
no doubt they def have their faults. Mine have ripped a couple of times but they work pretty well if you put them around cardboard and staple it to the wall *good suggestion from kochab*.

I grow CFL with veg and HPS for flowering.
