Hello, I too have had severe and chronic pain for the past 13 years, due to a ruptured disc injury. Eventually that disc collapsed and I had horrible nerve pain down my arms. It was bad enough that I had to stop working and i was on a lot and got sick of the pain management approach, mostly all medications, so I decided to give cannabis a try. I started it in earnest after my first neck fusion and was able to get off my medications. I had a second neck surgery and was on opiates for 4 weeks, I used cannabis to get off the medications. I have found that edibles are the best bang for my buck as far as pain relief and the length of pain relief. I have found that making edibles from a coconut extraction to be the most powerful and longest lasting. A good rule of thumb is a 1/1 ratio of coconut oil to cannabis is a good place to start. So for 1 oz of leaf trim you would use 1 cup of coconut oil. We use butter buds for the oil extraction, which make's the oil more potent than if you used just leaf trim. You will need to experiment on the ratio's for the oil, if you want strong then increase the trim or use trim and butter buds. I have made it as strong as 3 oz of butter buds to 2 cups of coconut oil, it was super potent, but you can take it and cut it by adding plain coconut oil for your recipes. Good luck and keep trying until you find what works's for you.
