Police inspection? Random/checks

2- weeks ago I had an officer in my owned building asking to take a look around since a person I was evicting <in the same building apt. complex> made a statement to a cop that I was mfg. meth, he stated that he was going to get a warrant and that we could do it the easy way or hard way, he was already in the building since the renter let him in, I allowed search and he found my marijuana, me and my roommate are allowed to have 24. I haven't received my updated 4 caregivers patients yet so I could not prove it, I was 66 over <small ones> he told me don't worry,and that im not going to get in trouble cause its going to be legal anyway . and he said he was serious about finding meth heads. hes also the drug enforcement cop in my small town, he never took pics, and he made a statement that time to time he will stop over to check things out, now that the renter is gone and I can lock up all the doors do I have to allow him to do check-up and since I have not received any type of charges or other contact on this situation, does this spawn an investigation?

I would do everything possible to get your affairs in order (legally speaking) cause he'll be back, probably with some buddies. Do not believe ANYTHING the police tell you, cause they can legally lie to your face and they will at every opportunity. They are probably already counting the $$$$$$$ from your building's forfeiture proceedings!

There are people on here that are a lot more knowledgeable about the laws then I but, with out a warrant, you do not have to allow him in.
He was most likely saying that he would be back to keep you honest about your numbers. He may also want to come back to see if you get your
paperwork sorted out.

Have you heard of him making other med busts in your town? Is your county strict? He sounds like a good cop in my opinion. I think if you really
peaked his interest he would have taken pictures or went over your paperwork more. You did have 90 in there right? I would get it down to 72
if they are in the same room, at least for a few months. If he was just trying to make you relaxed while he went and got a warrant he would be
back in less then two days in all likely hood.

I'd say he's either the coolest cop ever, or he'll be back with a warrant. I would plan on the latter.

I'm no lawyer, but I don't believe pictures taken without a warrant would be admissible in court, which would explain why he didn't bother.

well the 66 I was over were mostly males, he knew the difference and i told him i was over due to the fact that i had to start from seed and that my paperwork for the other 48 was being processed, i cut the plants tossed it garbage bag and he took off with them, he made a statement that this county has been trying to make a city ordinace allowing it, i found this in a city council transcript on how he wanted adopt rules similar to grand rapids, he did check card and left the 24 i was allowed.

Well shit. He might just be a good guy.

Next time you see him ask him if he's interested in running for Attorney General. I would donate to that campaign. :-)

They can do as they please sad to say most times not but in this situation it could be hard to use in a court but then again many others have been busted just like so ..

You should have never let him in without a warrant dont give a shit what he said. He'll be back at some point count on it, if you are over you are breaking the law. Good Luck get yourself in order really. And dont let him in again without a warrant which he is probably working on now since you let him in to begin with. He now has proof think about it he seen everything.

It all makes more sense now. Good cop but, you should have made him get the warrant from the jump
while you got your numbers in order. You got pretty damn lucky man. I might have to PM you and get the
name of that town. How are the real estate prices lol.

why would he get a warrant, first off he took the plants i was over, and left behind what i was allowed to have ? when he left he knew i was legal

He could have taken them for evidence. You were there and got a much better feel for what happened. Keep us posted if you can.
