My First grow

Okay so I started my first real grow back on 7-26-13. Here's my game plan, but with this being my first grow those plans are constantly changing. Grow medium- is coco coir and perlite
Nutrients- I'm using fox farms trio
Grow room- 4'x4'x7' lighthouse grow tent
Lighting- i have a 250w metal halide build that has 14,000k bulb, and I just ordered a 600w hps/MH fixture for my tent.
Exhaust fan- I ordered a 6" 440 cfm inline exhaust fan

Strains
I Ordered a number of different strains but in true newb fashion I screwed up when ordering here what I ordered
3-Pineapple Express auto-feminized
5-THC bomb auto- feminized
5-northern lights- feminized

Then as freebies I got
5- white widow x skunk#1
2- jack herer - feminized
1- mazar x ??? (Can't remember right now)

When I ordered I didn't know that I couldn't clone autos, other wise I probably wouldn't have ordered them.

My plan

So on July 26th I starting the germination process, using paper towels and plates. I germinated all the autos and the 5 northern lights, and the two jack herers, which I germinated using rapid rooters with a humidity dome

Once all the seeds put out their tap roots I planted them in their pots.

THE MISTAKES!

1st mistake, I planted them in their final 3 gallon pots. I did this on all of them except 2 thc bombs and the 2 jack herers.

2nd mistake, I planted way too deep, some of them were 1"- 2" deep.
3rd mistake, trying to fix mistake # 2, I tried un- burying them, and in the process damaged the seedlings.

Then on July 30th I went thru them to see which ones even stood a chance of surviving, and discovered I had fatally damaged- all the northern lights, 2 Pineapple Express, 2 thc bombs. Which I have to say is very discouraging .

**** I don't know for certain why I lost so many , but I suspect it was from damaging theirs tap roots. The tops either fell off a few, like the leaves broke off their stems. Or on a few their stems Basicly bent, then died from the bend upward ***

So I went from 15 plants to 5 in about 4 days... So by my calculations by harvest time ill be minus 20 - 24 plants lol.

Anyhow left with only 5 seedlings I decided I better go ahead and plant those 5 white widow seeds. So this time I decided to plant them all in plugs in the humidity dome, since the two seeds I did this with (the jack herers) before look 10x better than any of the others.

I have a question though, when using the rapid rooter plugs and the dome, how long should I let them grow under the dome before planting?

The 2 that I already did under the dome, one I waited till about day 3-4, then the next day I took the second one out. The second one seems stronger, so is longer better?

Hey guys i wanna post photos for my thread but since the legality of my grow is in question i wanna see what precautions can/ should i take to protect my identity, before posting my photos. Or am i just being paranoid since no matter what i do, if they want to, they will find out anyways...

No one is really worried about tracking marijuana too much these days. Meth and opiates are keepin em busy. That being said, don't photograph yourself with your plants, your house, your friends, don't talk about your plants with any of your friends or coworkers, and keep cautious about the smell. Other than that feel free to post pictures of Mother Nature's prettiest plant; it is America and we still have the freedom of speech (which pictures are an extension).
About your plants, I always germ my seeds in several damp paper towels between two ceramic plates, placed in a warm dark area. I have had 100% success rate with this (14 for 14). I always heard RR are better for clones than seedlings. I transplant my germ seeds after the taproot is 2" or longer. I bury it straight into some organic soil with the seed near the surface only about 1cm deep. I stick em under 6500k florescents until cotyldeons and first true leaf set appear. Then they are good to go under my HPS, at a reasonable distance. I only lightly water the seedlings with a few spray mists of water to dampen the soil. Have only killed one seedling, but that was due to going straight under the HPS and she cooked!

Okay thanks for the reply, I love combining my passion for photography, with my other hobbies. I just wasn't too certain if there was any particular precautions. I really can't wait till my area goes legal, although I seriously doubt my area will go legal. Far too many conservative types in my area... Who still view Mj the same way they did back in the 50's

anyhow ill get some photos tonight to post up

Heres the tent set up... Hows it look? Is the light too far away?

delicious jack herer, the nicer of the two.

Heres the worse of the two jack's. Can anyone tell me why its leaning? Im running a 600w mh 24hrs a day... Feeding just water, with a ph between 6.5-7.

IMG_0448.jpgIMG_0450.jpg
The last of the autos.... If its alive... i can kill it...

The freshly germinated white widow. Looking pretty shitty right? Whats the deal? Ive been carefully monitoring watering levels. NO NUTES AT ALL...NONE.

Thanks for the feedback...

Grr I really don't know why I'm having so many fucking problems on this forum, problems with expired token, or it logs me out when I'm in the middle of posting a long post....

So it's been about 18 days since germination and I just started dosing fertilizer at about 1/3rd. the recommend amount, which is 15ml per gallon, I'm doing 5ml per gallon. That second jack herer I posted that was leaning is now the better of the two, at about 4" tall. The first one started to turn a light green color, that's why I started with fertilizer. It was kind of a light green/ faint yellow color, that would indicate low nitrates right?

This is the delicious jack herer at 19 days from germination date. She's(knock on wood) looking good i think, except for the fact that is looks like the stem can support it so its kinda falling over... She i leave it be or should to left it back up? Why is it falling over? I have a fan close to it but i did that to help aid in drying out the soil after each watering...

All of mine leaned when young. I tie them up until the stem is strong enough to hold the plant up. Later on you might need to tie up branches that buds are too heavy on as well. Im not positive you need to tie up the stem, but Ive been doing it.
Good luck man. I still havent harvested my 1st grow yet, 2 weeks to go.

a good trick is a straw, cut straight down the middle, then wrap around stem. I only do this if they really need it though. (for example, young seedlings outside in the wind)

Thanks critical and dub, I appreciate the feedback. I can't believe I screwed up and killed so many plants in the beginning. Anyways, I'm doing a time lapse video on this plant (#1), I set up my dslr with it taking a photo once every hour, that way I can really see what's going on with the plant.

Thanks again guys.
