Opinions? How close to flowering?

Sup all... I got a couple pink kush plants growing in my yard. I live in southern ontario. They are almost 4 weeks old from seed. Grown outdoor in pots from day 1. I planted them july 12. They are short healthy plants and I'm not expecting much yield but.......when do you think these baby's will start showing signs of sex? I also noticed one of them stinks way more than the others....could this be the tell of a female?

I'm pretty sure its just leafs growing from the nodes, not pre flowers. But this is my first grow so any advice on when these babys will flower would be greatly appreciated.

they should start any time showing there sex here in the lower 48 mine starts showing there sex couple weeks before july from the looks of what you showed in the pics i would say they are females most time from my exp the males are skinny and tall not much growth as far as fan leafs and nodes go but have seen a couple that where a little thicker that where males

Ya I'm really hoping they are females. Can't wait for them to start showing either way. I've recently heard that weed will not flower in the first 6 weeks because it is not at sexual maturity yet. Even if they are grown in a flowering environment (ie. 12/12 light). Can anyone else confirm this to be true? If thats the case then I got a few more weeks still .

I would expect them to show sex within a couple weeks and probably start flowering very soon after that. You started them pretty late in the season so its tough to say for sure.

Looking good man. Have you been able to finish outdoors in the past? I only ask cuz in southern sask where I am it's almost impossible to finish them up outside as it starts to get to cold in the evenings in sept...we're already down to 5-6 degrees at night here

This is my first grow. I'm curious myself if i've waited too long to start. The nights right now are around 20 degrees celsius. Even in September they stay pretty close to 10 degrees at night. I'm hoping they start the flowering process soon. Don't really have the option to finish inside at the current time. Would 5 or 6 degrees kill a plant? I thought they can grow right until first frost.

They are good until the first frost, you just have to hope it's not an early one which it likely will be with the weather we've been having this year. Also, growth slows at low temps so ideally you would want them to start flowering asap. If the bud is fairly developed like 8 weeks in flowering then the cold wont hurt them just the frost but if they are early in bloom they probably won't make it.

I have one plant right now thats already full out budding and thats my mataro Blue. all the rest of my strains are already starting to show "pre flowers" and I've had mine in the ground since may 15th.

Ok cool....good to know....I'm hoping these plants can stand up to that canadian autumn. I'm so anxious to see some flowering on these babies.....Only 4 weeks now from seed....still too young i guess

  • HELLO THERE

OP, my current situation is a lot like yours, they haven't been out very long at all, but I TOO am anxious for sex-flowers

Started late season from seed 7/19

    1 week-- 24/0 after sprout
Then put outside in 5 gallon container with a supersoil/compost/amended groundsoil mix
It has been about 2.5 weeks since the transplant; daylight hours in my region are 13.5hrs & dropping fast
(she gets ~12 hours DIRECT sun a day)

Nice! Sweet garden...any pics? Sounds like you'll be smoking the blue mataro first before the other strains finish up....You in southern ontario as well i see.....Supposed to be amazing whether the next week for us......pure sunny days.....hopefully thats what my plants need to start showing some preflowers.

Plants are just over 4 weeks now from seed...I tried to take close ups of what I think might be pre flowers....The top node below the canopy is where I think I'm seeing them....Could just be another set of leaves though....not really sure.....any thoughts?

2 -3 more weeks tops, Look for A-symmetrical branching, or alternating node growth. This is a Pre-Calyx sign of the plant reaching its sexual maturity.

what do you mean alternating node? Its definitely growing new nodes at accelerating rate these days....I also notice I have a set of leaves in round middle of plant height......that are fucking huge....they dwarf the other leafs on the plant....is this normal?
