Curing- What's your method?

Rrog I cure pretty much the same as you, Caliber III's and IV's and large humidipaks, but I use 1 gallon jars. Been doing caliber's for years and just started using the humidipaks and I have never had a problem. The only thing I plan on changing is I need more Humidipaks and I want to label them because I have found that they take on the smell of whatever is in the jar and if I use them on a different strain the smell from the previous strain will remain in it and when I open a jar I get a mixed smell instead of the straight smell of the strain.

I still don't get what the pouches give me... If I can dry without them to whatever % I want, They'll stay at the Rh over time, so what's the bag really doing?

I mainly use them to bring down my Rh. Keeps me from having to dump out my jars as much in the beginning because the humidity has gone above 70%. Also if Im keeping something just for me and am opening and closing a jar daily for weeks/months I know the humidity is staying the same over the long haul < not so much of a problem now but it was when I had a much smaller grow.

Do any of you use the drying racks that you hang with all the compartments in them?
I have a mesh rack that hangs , its really only aplicable for the last stages of drying . The racks will mishape buds as they dry unless you rotate them reularly during the process .. I used one for a trial run and found it to be a hassle and the fray always catches dry bud while breaking trichomes off :(

It is now a utility piece for garden herb and flower drying as well as my wife and kids craft drying station , in the end it was worthwhile for other things at the least lol .. But hey to each their own :)

I like hanging them initially to keep them nice. Then I load into 1/2 gallon mason, laid flat, so I can just open the jar and access all the buds to exchange air. Keeps me from ever dumping a jar and disturbing the bud. That's just me.

hang whole plants or colas.....for weeks in cool dark dry place

60% dry--
--'de-bone' and 'buck' down.....

sweat in large(turkey size) oven bags for awhile to rehydrate and even out the moisture........burping (couple weeks?)

stash in large (6litre) cvaults w boveda (62%) --for as many>>months as it takes....

the longer the better-for a nice smooth cure

--i have noticed the longer i leave it in the cvaults the better it gets like wine:joint:

Another Boveda user. Interesting. I think I'm going to be an official non-Boveda grower. Besides, IMHO 62% is too high. You can't vape worth a poop above 60%, and that's what I mostly do.

60-62%-65% is optimal range to keep your erbs fresh and sticky .....for 'long' periods-

--before 'boveda' and cvaults i used to just use oven bags--

....like everyone else i learned from-
.....now im sold on the simplicity of 'stash it and forget it'--

this whole 'glass jar' phenomenon thing seems to come from too many people going out west and seeing heads carrying their stash around in glass jars at festivals and parties

..... sometimes i use baby food jars for my head stash when not using my smaller cvaults

i mean if its good enough for connosiuer 'cigar' smokers to keep 100$@ cigars fresh
-( i like my 20$[10$?] cigars fresh)
--its just a balancing dessicater....adds or subtracts moisture from the organic matter-evens out the hydration-

a dessicant has no negative consequences when used w organic matter that im aware of-

....once i left a full oven bag in a trailer for over 6mons w/o bovedas'
(before they were popular in the market)

--forgot about it....some 'mikado'

--that shit was better than all the other ones i blew thru! sweeter-smoother-tastier after 6mons!
more flavanoids turpenes and seemd stronger from the long cure....somthing i try for nowadays

now if your processing huge amounts i have seen large scale gardens just sweat them in giant black garbage bags-

--then when the trimmers get to it and buck it down and debone it
....it is usually kept in oven bags till....? >> ($$)

biggest problem i see here in michigan is people dont let their plants go to full maturity
....then try and fast cure it and convert($$) it asap...

--a long slow cure makes for the best smoke-:joint:

and i always prefer good golden 'keif' for a vape .....in jars lol

I use a lotta jars. Some cured over a year. After 3 months, I'm happy. Not happier with 6 month old cure so much.
